Superintendent's Update
December 5, 2025
Dear CCPS Families -
As the calendar year draws to a close, the energy across our county is noticeable, marked by festive music, competitive athletics, and enriching outdoor learning.
Our talented students are preparing to showcase their hard work and musical gifts in our annual holiday concerts. These performances are a wonderful tradition and a true highlight of the school year. Please refer to your child's school newsletter or the school's website for specific concert dates, times, and location details for their respective bands, orchestras, and choruses.
Our winter sports season has officially begun! We have student-athletes competing in several sports, including basketball, wrestling, indoor track, and swimming. I encourage everyone to come out and support our teams. These programs teach invaluable lessons about teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.
This week and next, we are thrilled to have our sixth-grade students attending the NorthBay program for the second time this school year. This residential outdoor education experience aligns with our curriculum and provides students with a unique, hands-on opportunity for environmental and character education. We are proud to partner with NorthBay to offer this impactful experience, which we know will create lasting memories and build essential skills for our students.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support of our students.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey A. Lawson, Ed.D.

Cecil County Threats and Hazards Identification (THIRA) Survey
Public Input for the Cecil County Threats and Hazards Identification (THIRA). This project will serve as a foundational piece for the new five-year cycle of the Hazard Mitigation Plan. The survey will also help us determine projects that could improve areas for you and your community. Helping you become better prepared to respond and recover from a disaster. The survey results will serve as data and information to identify known capabilities, those wishing to improve capabilities, known identified gaps, areas for improvement, or challenges that may exist. Cecil County Department of Emergency Services would like your assistance by completing this form.
