BIDDEFORD HIGH SCHOOL NEWSLETTER
August 20, 2025
Dear Students, Staff, and Families,
It is with great excitement and pride that I welcome you to the 2025–2026 school year at Biddeford High School! The start of a new year always brings fresh energy, a sense of possibility, and the opportunity to build upon the strong traditions of our community. Over the summer, our team has been hard at work planning, preparing, and making sure our school is a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment where every student and staff member can thrive.
This year, our overarching theme is unity—the belief that when we work together, we can accomplish more than any of us could on our own. Success at BHS is not just about individual achievement but about the collective strength of our students, staff, families, and community. Whether in the classroom, on the athletic fields, in extracurricular activities, or through the countless ways we support one another, unity is what allows us to grow stronger together.
Academics remain at the heart of all we do, and we are committed to providing challenging, engaging, and supportive learning experiences for all students. At the same time, we know that high school is about more than academics. Athletics, clubs, performing arts, and other extracurricular opportunities give students the chance to explore passions, build leadership skills, and create lasting memories. Most importantly, we want every student to feel a true sense of belonging at Biddeford High School—to know they are valued, respected, and an important part of our Tiger community.
As we begin this new school year, I encourage everyone—students, staff, and families—to embrace the spirit of unity. Support one another, celebrate each other’s successes, and remember that our shared commitment to P.R.I.D.E (perseverance, respect, integrity, dependability and empathy) will help us make Biddeford High School the very best it can be.
I am truly looking forward to all that we will accomplish together in 2025–2026. Let’s make this a year filled with learning, growth, and Tiger pride!
With gratitude and excitement,
Martha Murray
Principal, Biddeford High School

Partners in Education Update
Last fall, in an effort to strengthen partnerships between our school, our students’ caregivers, and our community, Biddeford High School established a “Partners in Education” group. We recruited diverse, passionate, and solution-oriented staff, students, parents, and community representatives to join this committee that meets on the first Monday of each month from 6:30 to 7:30pm in the BHS Media Center to review and discuss school-related initiatives, procedures, and opportunities. If you would like to join this group, please email Heather Tremblay at htremblay@biddefordschools.me.
Progress & Outcomes:
Our PIE group engaged in productive discussions on a variety of topics during our first four meetings. Notable outcomes include:
Establishing group goals
Creating a one page overview of 8th grade at BHS designed to provide additional clarity to students and parents as we continue to grow through this transition.
Texting a link to the monthly Smore newsletter (instead of just sending it via email)
Improving 8th grade sports transportation
Plans to involve parents in spring PRIDE Days & teacher appreciation week
Adding info and two quick “poll” questions to our Principal monthly newsletter
TRANSPORTATION
If you need to make any changes to your child's transportation arrangements (drop-off location, pick-up location, or bus requests) and have not yet contacted our transportation department, please do so immediately. Over the next several days, we typically receive many last-minute transportation requests that significantly alter our bus routes and timing. For any requests made after Friday, August 22nd, we cannot guarantee that changes will be processed in time for the first day of school.
Please understand that each transportation change impacts the schedule and timing for all families on that route. To help everyone plan effectively and minimize disruptions, we need to finalize routes and schedules as soon as possible. Additionally, our school offices coordinate dismissal procedures around established bus routes, making last-minute changes particularly problematic for overall school operations.
Please send any transportation changes to: transportation@biddefordschools.me and read the below important update with information on walkers, high school parking, and more.

It is very important for parents to complete the registration process in order to stay connected and informed about your child(ren)’s education. Emergency Text Alerts
District-related text alerts are sent from the number 98900, and while families are legally allowed to opt out of receiving these messages, doing so means you will no longer receive emergency updates via text—only by email. If you’ve previously opted out and would like to start receiving text alerts again, simply text START to 98900. Please note that it can take up to 48 business hours for the change to take effect.
Devices for Students
Every student will be assigned a school-owned device for the 2025-2026 school year, with the expectation that students and/or parents will be responsible for returning them in similar condition.
The Device Protection Plan is strongly recommended as students are allowed to take home their devices and may use the same device for several years. Device Protection Plan and cost details here.
For Problems/Issues with Devices:
Students/parents should immediately inform the school, who will contact the Technology Department.
School Planned Absences
In an effort to continue to build awareness around attendance and our procedures at Biddeford High School, we would like to remind you that any student and family that has a planned absence should be filling out out school planned absence form, having teachers sign the form and returning it to the Main Office. The form is also available in the Main Office at BHS.
