Preschool Highlights

In celebration of Valentine's Day we will be having a Friendship Party on Friday, February 10th. This is when the children will exchange Valentine's Day cards. Each child will be making a Valentine's bag and the day of the party they will place a card into each classmates bag.

We have 14 children in our class. Please have your child sign the cards with only their name, leave the cards blank. This will help passing out the cards easier as well not all students are writing certain letters just yet.

A friendly reminder that the school policy if you are dropping off late or picking up early please enter though the front door. You need to sign yourself in and out before leaving the building. Bears are the most popular animal we know to hibernate! The students had to classify and identify the difference between bears and other animals. They had to use vocabulary to describe each bear. We learned that all bears do not look alike! Some bears have different color fur, like a polar bear is white and a grizzly bear is brown. We notices that some bears do not eat the same type of foods, like panda bears eat bamboo and black bears eat fish.

This week we work on our hibernating hedgehogs! The children had to follow the steps to crate their hedgehog. Following directions and completing a task is a domain on the CT ELDS for cognition skills. First the children had to color and cut their hedgehog, then cut and glue on the paper spikes and last had to rip paper bag materials and glue it on paper to create a nest. This was a lot of steps but each day we worked on it.

We also colored our own hibernation books! Each page was a different animal that hibernates. We had to identify and name what type of area the animal hibernates in. For example, frogs hibernated in the mud, groundhogs hibernate in a borrow. The locations of where each animal hibernates supports the domain of vocabulary under the CT ELDS of language and literacy.
