The Weekly Highlander 2025-2026
Volume #26
A Message from the Principal
Dear Highlander Families:
If your student is riding and E-Vehicle and has not attended a safety class, the next one is on Tuesday, February 10th at Utt Middle School at 5:30pm. This class requires a parent and student to attend to learn about E-Vehicle safety before the student can purchase a permit that is required to park the E-Vehicle on the school campus.
This Wednesday, February 11th we will be holding a fundraiser at Chick-fil-A on 17th street from 3pm - 8pm. All proceeds go to suppport our ASB program at Hewes, please use the flyer in this newsletter and a percentage of your purchase will go back to our school. There will be no school on Monday, February 9th to recognize President Lincoln's Birthday. We hope you and your family enjoy a safe three day weekend. e safety

FACULTY FRIDAY
MS.MANECKE - A huge thank you to our resident 'Jack of all trades'! Whether you're supporting staff or mentoring students, your flexibility and heart define our culture. You consistently WIN the Day by demonstrating exactly what it means to be a HIGHLANDER. We are so lucky to have you on the team!
Highlander for a Day is a recognition program at Hewes Middle School that celebrates students for incredible moments of Winning the Day the Highlander Way. Students are recognized for working hard, including others, never giving up, controlling their responses, choosing to act above the line, and taking extreme ownership of their 20 square feet. These are the habits and mindsets that shape our Highlander culture, and we are so proud to share them with our entire school community.
Support Hewes PTA - Dine at Ruby's
Tuesday, February 17th - 11am - 8:30pm
Hewes PTA will be having International Week Activities at lunch March 16-20. Help us teach the kids about a variety of cultures, maybe even yours. Please come out and help make the event enjoyable for all students. Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, we need volunteer help with pre-planned cultural activities. Wednesday, there will be a performance during double assembly. If you have any leads on performers or internationa ideas, please contact PTA. And on Friday, March 20 we will have parent sponsored information booths from different countries. In the past we have had a variety of countries and would like to have more this year. If you are able to host or help with a booth, please sign up. Make sure to comment with the name of your country. If you would like more information before committing or have any questions or suggestions for the week, reach out to hewesmiddleschoolpta@gmail.com . An Amazon wish list has been included as a suggestion, but we are open to more ideas!
