Carnegie Chronicle
September 2025
Note from the Director
We're going back to the roaring 1920s for the Carroll and Madison Public Library Foundation's Literary Tastes Dinner fundraiser, and showings of two film versions in the Library Boulevard Bookend. There are still tickets left for the dinner, but don't delay! Purchasing info can be found on the image below.
This Friday, September 19th, we'll watch the 1974 version starring Mia Farrow and Robert Redford, who died today. RIP. Next Friday, September 26th, join us for the 2013 version starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan. Films start at 6PM in the Library Boulevard Bookend (209 Spring Street), with free admission and popcorn. It's going to be the bee's knees!
The Friends of the Library clearance book sale in anticipation of upcoming construction work is just around the corner. This is your chance to get the best deals! All books will be just $1 each on Saturday, October 11th, and $5 a bag on Sunday, October 12th. Also coming up: Freaky Film Fest! Come see a spooky movie projected on our 15-ft screen in the Boulevard Bookend every Thursday night during the month of October. Scroll down for the schedule.
Hotsy-totsy,
Christina Danos
We don't give our gardening volunteers enough credit. They work behind the scenes, keeping our grounds looking lush and lovely. A well-deserved and heartfelt THANK YOU to Gwen for maintaining the area in front of the main building, and Sue, Francie, and Sharon for beautifying the Library Garden. We receive compliments frequently, and it's all because of your hard work!
