The Weekly Update #4
May 23rd, 2026
Thank YOU!!!
As we wrap up another successful school year, I wanted to extend our heartfelt thanks to our students, staff, parents, and community members for their continued support, dedication, and hard work. Together, we have created meaningful opportunities for our students to learn and grow. Congratulations to all of our students on their accomplishments this year, and congratulations to our teachers for their unwavering commitment to helping every student succeed.
I hope everyone has a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer...you deserve it!
We look forward to seeing students on August 19, 2026, for the first day of the 2026-27 school year.
LCS District Wide Wireless Communication Device Policy
Beginning with the 2026-27 school year, Linden Community Schools will implement a new policy that prohibits wireless communication devices during school hours. This policy is in line with Michigan Compiled Law 380.1303a, which is aimed at cutting down on digital distractions and boosting student mental health.
Linden Community School students will be prohibited from using a wireless communication device on school grounds during instructional time.
Students who violate this policy by using a WCD on school grounds during instructional time will be subject to the following progressive disciplinary measures:
- Minimum penalty: Verbal warning and confiscation of the device with parent/guardian notification and required parent/guardian pickup.
- Maximum penalty: Confiscation of the device with parent/guardian notification and required parent/guardian pickup, and additional disciplinary action as determined by school administration up to and including suspension.
LHS Weight Room Renovations- SINKING FUND PROJECT
Linden High School is excited to announce a major upgrade to the high school weight room beginning the third week of June. Axtell Services will begin the project by painting the entire weight room, excluding the ceiling, giving the space a completely refreshed and modern look.
On July 7th, Spec Athletics will begin the next phase of the renovation by removing all existing paint from the floors and installing new rubber flooring throughout the facility. The upgrade will also include 10 new drop-zone lifting platforms featuring the Linden school logo. The renovation should be finished by the 16th of July.
As part of the redesign, the current Rogue equipment will be moved to the center of the room instead of being positioned against the mirrors as shown in the “before” picture. This new layout will create space for five additional lifting stations, allowing more student-athletes to train simultaneously and improving overall traffic flow within the room.
The installation of the new lifting platforms flush with the flooring surface will also eliminate the five raised wooden platforms currently shown in the “before” picture, creating a safer, cleaner, and more efficient training environment.
The rendering highlights the planned layout and location of the new lifting stations as we continue to invest in providing Linden students with a first-class training and healthy lifestyle facility. The cost for the renovation is just over $50,000.
Sinking Fund dollars will be used to pay for the renovations. A Sinking Fund is a community-supported, dedicated source that Linden Community Schools has to help fund projects related to facilities and equipment. This dedicated source allows Linden Community Schools to perform necessary facility repairs and renovations without using educational dollars. Keeping educational dollars in the classroom, supporting and enriching programs and opportunities for our students.
