Back to School Family Newsletter
From Bucyrus Elementary School
2025-2026 August Edition
Welcome Back to BES!
Please be sure to read through all the included information below for important back to school details.
Monthly Communications
NEW this year is a Monthly At-A-Glance that will be sent home at the end of each month. This communication will allow us to mainstream our communication with families without as many all-call interruptions. It will also help families be aware of upcoming events and share fun pictures from the month at BES. Please be on the lookout for this beginning at the end of August! It will be sent through Rooms and the all-call system emails. Here is an August event calendar to preview some of the information that will be shared.
Mark Your Calendars!
Want to plan even further ahead? Mark your calendars with these events or print this calendar out and hang it on your fridge! Please note dates are subject to change and even more events will be added throughout the year!
Class List Postcards
Teacher Assignment postcards will be mailed out beginning the week of August 4 to addresses in FinalForms. It can take the USPS time to deliver all the postcards, so please wait patiently. If you do not receive your postcard by August 18, tables will be also set up at Open House with class lists available for families to find out teachers that way as well.
Please complete Final Forms!

Communicate with Us Using Rooms
Last year BCS utilized a communication app called Rooms with our families. Rooms is back this year with new features to make communication easier. To ensure you can access all features, please update the Bucyrus app. This is the main way we communicate with our families, so please be sure to follow this step so we can communicate from day 1 with you.
School Arrival and Dismissal
*Doors open at 8:25am with the tardy bell ringing at 8:40am. Please do not drop off students before this time as we do not have staff to monitor them. The playground is not open during this time for student safety.
*Dismissal begins at 3:15 for Pre-K, 3:20 for KG and 1st, and 3:25pm for grades 2-5.
*Any students that arrives late or leaves early will need to be checked in/out through the main office. As a reminder, any student leaving early needs to be picked up by an approved pick up person (in FinalForms) that is 18 or older with a valid ID.
*Grade level colored pick-up cards will be required for the first quarter of school until school staff can learn all allowable adults during dismissal time. These cards can be picked up from the classroom teacher during Open House or the main office.
Cell Phone Reminders
Students may not have cell phones or smart watches out or turned on during the school day or on the bus. All cell phones and smart watches need to remain in student lockers or bookbags during school.
Any transportation changes or incidents in which you need to get ahold of your child during the school day need to be communicated by calling our main office.
