News, Information & Announcements

Chromebooks, Chromebooks, and Chromebooks

Do you have an extra chromebook at home? Please return it! If you have an extra chromebook charger at home? Please return it! Thank You!

We are collecting chromebooks on June 13th.

If for some reason your student will not be at school for those last few days, we must get them back! Please ensure the chromebook is sent back with its case and charger! Thanks so much! We are reminding students at school too!

Couple of Reminders

Water Bottles - All students should have a water bottle. Especially this time of year.

Sunscreen/Hats - We encourage sunscreen and other sun precautions this time of year.

Lost and Found - We donate lost and found items at the conclusion of the year. We have included some pictures below. Please encourage your students to look for any missing items. We look for labels but can only return if there are names on items.

Ticks - It is that time of year. We encourage students to check here but please check at home too!

Moving?

Please give our office a call or email Ruth Keane (rkeane@sau88.net) if you are moving out of the District. This is especially important if you will be moving at the conclusion of this year. Thank You!

June 10th - 8th Grade Activity Night and Social for 8th Graders

Details for next Friday night for 8th graders!

The 8th Grade Activity Night and Social will take place at LMS on Friday, June 10th from 6 - 8 PM for 8th graders. Families will want to drop 8th grade students at the front of the building at 6PM. Pick-up will be from the back parking lot by the playground at 8PM. This is an informal event. We will have a dinner of sandwiches, sides, cookies, brownies and cake. There will be an 8th grade slideshow and students will receive some things from LMS. There will be games inside and outside, dancing in the gym, a selfie station, and socializing.

Please remember that a student must be in attendance for the school day in order to participate. Students should also wear sneakers. We will go over expectations with 8th graders on June 9th during the school day.

It should be a great event and we look forward to celebrating with our 8th graders the end of their journey at LMS!

June 13th - Step Up Day & Chromebook Turn In

LMS will be having a modified class schedule on Monday, June 13th. We will be collecting chromebooks and then later in the day students will be able to meet their new team or teachers. It is important to understand that these are preliminary placements. Over the summer, LMS will confirm with families final placements. This is a fun day for staff and students.

Please ensure your student's chromebook and charger comes back to school!

June 14th - Spring Carnival

Tuesday, June 14th will be our Spring Carnival Day. All teams will be rotating through activities on campus. This is an opportunity for teams to celebrate the end of the year together and have fun as teams. It is very important that students have a water bottle, sunscreen, and are prepared to be outside for most of the day.

Lunch on June 14th wil be a cookout for each team.

From Mrs. McFee and Mr. Binaghi: Tuesday, June 14th is the Spring Carnival where students spend the majority of the day outside which means they need to come to school prepared. Students should wear layers for when it's cool in the morning, but hot in the afternoon. Students should also bring water bottles, sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses to help make sure they have a great day out in the sun!

June 15th - Recognition

On Wednesday, June 15th, we have our 8th Grade Recognition Assembly. All 8th graders will be recognized. 7th graders will be attending this event but 5th and 6th graders will be attending virtually like last year to create more space for families. 5th and 6th graders that have older siblings in 8th grade will be able to attend. We are excited to celebrate these 8th graders!

Our Recognition Assembly for our 8th graders will start at 9AM in our gymnasium. We will be live streaming this event and we invite 8th grade families to attend. Masks are welcome but are optional. We will email the link out and put it on the website as soon as we have it!

News from the Health Office

Latest Update by Nancy Pageau

Hello LMS families!

As I review student health files for the end of the school year, a reminder that all students are required to be up to date with immunizations and provide copies of the immunization record to the nurse.

We have quite a few students who are still missing immunizations (specifically Tdap) that will need to have them before the start of next school year.

  • 8th grade students heading to LHS will need a current physical done in 2022.
  • 7th grade students will need a current physical done in 2022.
  • All students are encouraged to have annual physicals. Please provide copies to the nurse as the physicals are completed.

Your children will be spending more time outdoors as we end the year. Sunscreen is encouraged and should be applied prior to coming to school. We do not allow sharing of sunscreen between students, as some students are allergic to sunscreen ingredients.

Water bottles are to be brought to school by your child and are encouraged to be used throughout the school day. Hydration is key during these warmer days!

Remember to connect with the nurse if your child has medications that need to be picked up by the end of the year. Medications are not stored over the summer and will be discarded if not picked up.

Design Thinking, Entrepreneurship Summer Program by Stanford Designer and Shark Tank Entrepreneur

We are excited to let you know that Inspirit AI is now offering a 10-day bootcamp on Design Thinking and Entrepreneurship for high school students. The program is taught by Maddie Bradshaw, Shark Tank Entrepreneur/Harvard alum and Delaney Rua, Stanford product designer. We warmly invite Lebanon Middle School students to apply!

Design Thinking is a framework to identify and develop innovative solutions to problems that exist in the daily lives and is used by most prestigious organizations across the globe, like Intuit, Apple, and Facebook, to build impactful products. Design Thinking has been cited as a highly valuable career skill, and encourages the development of critical thinking and leadership principles in students of all interests. Inspirit AI’s 10-day, 25-hour small group program will help students work on a design/entrepreneurial project this summer. You can find key program highlights in the short note below.

Camp Gottalikachallenge!

NH Destination Imagination's summer program, Camp Gottalikachallenge has received grant funding to provide FREE camp tuition to our July session for up to ten NH students who qualify for free/reduced lunch.

Camp Gottalikachallenge combines creative problem solving and STEAM with classic summer camp fun. Our program creates a safe, structured, and supportive environment where campers are encouraged to tackle all kinds of new challenges and adventures.

Gotta Camp is open to any child rising into grades 5-9. As of right now, we have only a few spots left in the August session, and lots of space in the July session!

Session 1: July 24-29 at Lions Camp Pride in New Durham, NH

Session 2: August 7-12 at Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, NH (COVID-19 vaccination required for this session)

While the grant funding is specifically for the July session, we do also offer our own need-based financial assistance that can be used for the August session.

If interested, please visit https://campgottalikachallenge.org/ for more information and to apply.

Lebanon Recreation Outdoor Adventures

Lebanon Recreation has some fun Outdoor Adventures this summer for ages 12+. Registration can be done online at LebanonNH.gov/Register.

HACTC Tech Camp

The HACTC is excited to offer our one-week Summer Tech Camp to middle school students again! We hope to see some Lebanon Middle School students here at the HACTC for camp this June.

Camp will be held June 20 - 24, 2022 in the mornings.

Some examples of past camp activities include: basic welding, changing a car tire, making homemade pasta and sauce, videography, photography, spa sciences, basic first aid/constructing a first aid kit, Cricut creations, Entrepreneur for a Day, Building a Toolbox, Community Service, and more. We will share this year's complete list of activities when we get closer to June.

We will offer bussing again for schools/towns that send 10 or more students, and will keep you posted once we start to receive camp applications. In years' past we have been able to offer a bus to Lebanon students.

Would you please distribute the attached flyer/application to your 6th, 7th and 8th graders about camp? It is posted here on our web site as well. Campers who attended last year may attend again this year if they are entering 8th or 9th grades - we will be offering new activities to participate in.

Thank you, and please let me know if you have any questions!
