Parents and Families Newsletter
Summer Greetings from Your Multilingual Program Team
Dear Parents and Families,
As summer begins, families everywhere are adjusting to new routines, opportunities, and adventures. This season may include summer learning programs, family trips, outdoor activities, or simply spending more time together at home. While the school year has come to a close, summer remains an important time for children to continue growing, exploring, and staying connected to learning in meaningful ways.
Summer is also a wonderful opportunity for families to strengthen learning through everyday experiences. Reading together, visiting the library, talking about daily activities, cooking meals as a family, or exploring your community are all powerful ways to support your child’s development. Encouraging curiosity and conversation helps children continue building language, confidence, and critical thinking skills throughout the summer months.
As we reflect on this school year, we want to thank you for your partnership, support, and dedication to your child’s success. Your involvement plays an essential role in helping students thrive academically, socially, and linguistically. We are especially grateful for the many ways families continue to celebrate and preserve their home languages and cultures, which are an invaluable part of our multilingual community.
We hope your family enjoys a safe, restful, and joyful summer filled with memorable moments and new experiences. We look forward to welcoming our students and families back for another exciting school year ahead.
With appreciation,
Your Multilingual Program Team

Get Involved with District LPAC (Volunteers Needed) for 2026-2027
Fort Bend ISD values parent involvement in supporting Emergent Bilingual (EB) students. Parents are needed to serve on the Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) to help ensure that EB students receive the support and services they need to succeed academically.
Emergent Bilingual (EB) - A student identified by the LPAC who is in the process of acquiring English and has another language as the student's home language.
District-Level LPAC: The District LPAC plays a key role in the initial identification process for EB students, reviewing assessment data and determining eligibility for language support services. Parents serving at the district level also help review broader policies and programs affecting EB students (Newcomers) across Fort Bend ISD. District LPAC meetings typically occur weekly.
How to Get Involved: Training is provided, if applicable, for parents serving on the LPAC, and multiple opportunities for participation are available throughout the year.
To show your interest in serving on a district LPAC, please complete the Microsoft Form.

📣 Featured Spotlight 📣
Celebrating Our Summer Nominee: Alejandro Hernandez Ramiro, Clements High School Senior
We are proud to recognize Alejandro for his outstanding hard work, perseverance, and positive attitude throughout this school year. Alejandro consistently stayed engaged in class, asked thoughtful questions, and never allowed language barriers to limit his success. His joyful spirit and dedication to learning made him a valued member of the classroom community and a true pleasure to teach.
Throughout the year, Alejandro also demonstrated tremendous growth as a writer. Although he was initially hesitant and unsure of himself in Creative Writing, he gradually became more confident and willing to take academic risks. Even while continuing to navigate the challenges of language development, his writing improved immensely through his persistence and determination.
Alejandro’s resilience, engagement, and commitment to growth have left a lasting impression on his teachers. He serves as an example of how a positive mindset and strong work ethic can lead to meaningful success, and we are excited to celebrate all that he has accomplished.
Celebrating Our Summer Nominee: Anh Viet Bui, Travis High School Senior
We are proud to recognize Anh Viet Bui for his exceptional academic achievement, leadership, and determination throughout his time at Travis High School. After moving to Richmond from Vietnam in 2024, Viet entered Travis during the fall semester of his junior year as an Emergent Bilingual student. Despite the challenges of adjusting to a new school system and environment, he quickly learned to navigate course selection, college preparation, and academic expectations while demonstrating excellence in the classroom.
Viet’s hard work and dedication have earned him significant accomplishments during his senior year. At graduation, he will proudly wear three honor cords, including a CCMR cord for his exemplary SAT performance and two cords recognizing his achievement as a Magna Cum Laude graduate. He will attend the University of Houston this fall, where he plans to major in Computer Engineering.
To further prepare for his future, Viet completed three dual-credit courses and one AP course while at Travis. Beyond his academic success, he has informally mentored newcomer students and contributed to the development of materials that support EB students with test preparation and academic planning. His teachers and peers consistently praise his drive, determination, academic excellence, and willingness to help others whenever possible. Viet’s perseverance and leadership make him an outstanding example of success and service within the Travis community.
