The 2023-24 season officially kicks off this week for our Temple Owls as women’s soccer plays the first official contest of the new year at home against William and Mary Thursday night (7 p.m./ESPN+) at the Temple Sports Complex. I look forward to watching our Owls get the new year started off on the right foot.
HALL OF FAME WEEKEND
It was great celebrating with Temple alums in Canton, Ohio on August 5 as one of our all-time greats, Joe Klecko, was enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.We look forward to honoring Joe at our football game against Miami on Saturday, Sept. 23 at Lincoln Financial Field.
If you did not have a chance to watch his spectacular enshrinement speech click here.
IA & TUAA EDUCATION SESSIONS
Thank you to everyone who joined us on last week’s education sessions with Temple’s Institutional Advancement and Alumni Affairs. The informational zoom calls featured staff from our Athletics Department who shared an update on ways to support Temple Athletics and its student-athletes, including Temple Owl Club and participating in name, image, and likeness (NIL) activities. I am grateful that Andy Carl from the TUFF Fund, a community-focused collective created to support our student-athletes, was also able to introduce himself and the educate attendees on the work of his organization. We look forward to hosting similar calls in the future, so please stay tuned!
SEASON TICKET HOLDER PARTY
It was so nice seeing so many of our Temple Football fans on August 9 at our Season Ticket Holder Party on campus in the STAR pavilion. You could feel the anticipation and excitement in the air for the 2023 Football season which kicks off on Saturday, September 2 against Akron. I look forward to seeing everyone at Lincoln Financial Field for what should be a great season of Owls Football.
SUMMER BRIDGE PROGRAM
Kudos to Tara Evans and her staff at the Resnick Center for coordinating another successful Summer Bridge program. The program equips our incoming student-athletes with the necessary academic, personal, and professional tools that will aid in their transition from high school to college. Summer Bridge programming topics include sessions run by TU Well focused on Energy Management, Sleep Management and Self Evaluation and Values Exploration. Additional topics include NIL 101, Academic Skill Development sessions, Temple Traditions, and a Major and Career Exploration workshop.
