Academic Spirit Week: Let’s Go All In!
We are heading into an important time of year at Meridian High School as we prepare for our first STAAR testing day next week. Our students have been working hard, our teachers have been intentional in their instruction, and now it’s time to show what we know.
To build excitement and keep our energy high, we are celebrating with Academic Spirit Week, April 7–10! Each day highlights one of our core content areas and gives students a fun way to connect their learning to our campus culture.
We are proud of the work happening in our classrooms every day, and we are ready to go ALL IN for our students.
🎶 Special Guest Artist: Alex Meiner
We were honored to welcome Alex Meiner for a special performance and clinic with our Meridian band students. Alex is a nationally recognized, Grammy-nominated musician, performer, and educator who has spent decades sharing his passion for music with audiences and students across the country.
With a background in trumpet performance and music education, Alex brings a unique blend of classical training, jazz influence, and world music styles to every stage he steps on. His high-energy performances and ability to play multiple instruments create an engaging experience that connects with students of all ages.
Beyond performing, Alex is deeply committed to music education. He regularly works with schools through master classes, clinics, and workshops—helping young musicians grow in skill, confidence, and creativity. His mission is simple but powerful: to inspire others and bring people together through the joy of music.
Our students had the incredible opportunity to not only hear outstanding musicianship, but also learn from a professional who truly believes in the power of music to shape lives.
We are grateful to Alex for investing in our students and helping spark a continued love for music here at Meridian.
A Note from Dr. Paceley
Dear Hive Families,
As we head into the Easter weekend, I hope your family enjoys a restful and joyful few days together. This is a great time to slow down, recharge, and spend meaningful moments with those who matter most.
When we return, we’ll be jumping right back into a busy and exciting week as we begin STAAR testing. Our students have been working hard, and we are proud of the preparation they’ve put in.
As part of our Academic Spirit Week, we will be celebrating Science Day—so don’t forget to have your student wear a science-related shirt when we return!
Thank you for your continued support. We are ready to finish strong!
💛 Capturing Kids’ Hearts Corner 💛
💛 Capturing Kids’ Hearts – April Focus
As we move into April, our CKH focus is Courage—the strength to do what is right, even when it’s not easy.
Courage shows up in many ways on our campus. It’s a student raising their hand when they’re unsure, trying again after a tough test, standing up for a friend, or choosing to make a better decision the next time. These everyday moments are where real growth happens.
With STAAR testing right around the corner, courage is especially important. We are encouraging our students to believe in themselves, stay focused, and give their very best effort. Confidence doesn’t come from being perfect—it comes from showing up, trying hard, and not giving up.
You can support this at home by:
Encouraging your child to take on challenges, even when they feel unsure
Talking about times when you had to be brave and push through
Celebrating effort, not just outcomes
At Meridian High School, we are proud of the courage our students show each day. Together, we will continue building a culture where every student feels safe, supported, and strong enough to take on whatever comes their way.

**Note: Senior Spotlights will feature 2-3 Seniors per week in the newsletters. Students will be put in the newsletter in the order they are received. Reminder that students who do not submit photos will only have their bio posted.**

Dyna Potter
Dyna Potter is a Senior at Meridian High School. After high school, she plans to attend Arlington Baptist University, where she will continue her volleyball career while studying sports management. She is excited to pursue her passion for athletics and turn it into a future career.
Her favorite high school memory is from her junior year during the regional cross country meet. Our team stayed at a hotel, went to Buffalo Wild Wings and bravely tried the hottest wings, and even visited a haunted house. It was such a fun experience and a great time spent with my teammates.
I would like to thank all of the coaches who have supported me throughout my high school career and pushed me to be my best every day. I would have never fallen in love with sports without them. They have taught me to push through adversity and to keep going no matter what. I am truly grateful for their encouragement and support.
Megan Reasoner
After graduation, Megan Reasoner plans to attend Job Corps in Oklahoma, where she will pursue training to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
One of Megan’s favorite high school memories is homecoming and Friday night football games—including the game against Wortham.
Megan would like to thank her teachers and family for their constant encouragement and support throughout her high school journey.
Senior Quote:
