Kindergarten Registration for Fall 2026 is OPEN NOW THROUGH MAY 15. It is important to register your child as soon as possible to give FPS and your future school enough time to provide students the best possible experience. Your child is eligible to attend school in the fall if they turn 5 by July 31, 2026. Visit the FPS kindergarten registration webpage to learn more about the registration process.

A second round of registration will reopen in July with a different process.

Don't have a 5-year-old, but know somebody who does?

We estimate we will have about 841 kindergarteners for the 2026-27 school year and it will take the help of the WHOLE COMMUNITY to reach them all and get them registered for school. Please help us spread the word! Make sure they know it is time to register their child for kindergarten – pass this email along to them or encourage them to visit https://www.fargo.k12.nd.us/registration.

Help your school, register your student for kindergarten AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

STEP ONE: PRE-REGISTER ONLINE

• Complete a pre-registration form at www.fargo.k12.nd.us/kindergartenregistration. After office staff review and approve your pre-registration, a confirmation email with instruction to create a PowerSchool account will be sent. For assistance, please contact your child’s school to schedule an appointment to complete in-person.

STEP TWO: POWERSCHOOL REGISTRATION FORMS

• Create a Parent PowerSchool account and complete registration forms.

STEP THREE: SUBMIT DOCUMENTATION

• Upload or bring the following documents to your child’s school to finalize registration.
• Child’s certified birth certificate
• Parent Identity (driver’s license)
• Child’s immunization record with 5-year shots
• Proof of address (lease/mortgage statement or two documents that include parent/guardian name and current address, such as a utility bill and paystub)

The following documents can be uploaded on the registration form RND-Required Documents, or they can be dropped off at the child's schools during school hours:

• A Certified Birth Certificate or Other Form of Identity
  A certified copy can be obtained by sending the required information to:

• Parent Identification (photo of your driver's license or passport)

• A Copy of Your Child’s Current Immunization Record
  North Dakota law requires that children be properly immunized or be in the process of being immunized before school starts. See the North Dakota Immunization Schedule.
  Note: North Dakota has a “No Shots: No School Attendance” law that is enforced by our School Board.

• Proof of Residency that includes the guardian's name and current address

Select one of these documents:

• Lease Agreement
• Mortgage Statement
• Property Tax Statement

OR two of these documents:

• Utility Bill
• Pay Stub
• Tax Return
• W2

PowerSchool: If you need help in PowerSchool (Fargo Public Schools online registration software), please call 701.446.1006.

Petitions or Open Enrollment: If you need help with the petitions or open enrollment process, call 701.446.1010.

Interpreter Help: If you need assistance from an interpreter, call 701.446.1055.

Each elementary school will host a Kindergarten Round-Up for incoming kindergarten parents and students. These events aim to help students and families get more comfortable with their new school environment and know what to expect when they start school in the fall. Families will receive a tour of the school building and hear an overview of what a day of kindergarten looks like. Families must complete pre-registration prior to attending kindergarten round-up.

• BENNETT: May 11 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
• CENTENNIAL: May 7 from 5-6 p.m.
• CLARA BARTON-HAWTHORNE: May 4 from 3-4:30 p.m.
• EAGLES: May 4 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
• ED CLAPP: April 30 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
• JEFFERSON: May 4 from 5-6 p.m.
• KENNEDY: May 11 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
• LEWIS & CLARK: May 7 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
• LINCOLN: May 4 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
• LONGFELLOW: May 4 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
• MCKINLEY: May 7 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
• MADISON: May 4 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
• WASHINGTON: May 11 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

This newsletter is published weekly on Thursdays during the school year when classes are in session. Material for publication is due by noon on Tuesday of the week of desired publication.
