The Value for May is 'Honesty' The Value for May is 'Honesty'

Bonneville Priorities

  • To ensure our children are happy and we explain things well
  • To ensure no child leaves our school unable to read
  • To ensure children learn a broad vocabulary to access the world around them
  • To enhance the educational experiences of diagnosed and undiagnosed children with SEND

a message from Ms Parker... a message from Ms Parker...

For May our value is Honesty. Across the school, we will be learning about what it means to be truthful, trustworthy, and sincere in our words and actions. Children will explore how honesty helps to build strong relationships, earn respect, and create a safe and supportive community. We will be encouraging pupils to take responsibility, speak the truth, and act with integrity in all that they do, helping everyone to feel respected and valued.

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our wonderful FAB for organising such successful school discos for the children. These events were a fantastic opportunity for pupils to relax, have fun, and enjoy time together in a safe and lively environment. It was a joy to see so many smiling faces, enthusiastic dancing, and a real sense of community spirit throughout. The effort, time, and dedication that the PTA put into planning and running these events is greatly appreciated, and it truly made a memorable experience for our children. Thank you to everyone involved for your continued support of our school and all of the supervising adults.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our fantastic PTA for their continued hard work, dedication, and commitment to our school community. Through their tireless efforts, fundraising events, and ongoing support, they have made a truly meaningful contribution to school life.

We are especially delighted that their fundraising has helped to fund our new meadow, providing a wonderful outdoor space for our children to enjoy, explore, and learn in. This is a lasting legacy that will benefit pupils for years to come.

We are incredibly grateful to all members of the PTA and to our wider school community for supporting these initiatives—your generosity and enthusiasm make such a difference.

Carry On Café is our after-school provision, and we kindly ask for your support in ensuring it runs safely and smoothly. The mobile number provided should be used only to alert staff when you have arrived at the gate to collect your child. It should not be used for any other purpose.

Staff have been instructed not to respond to messages or act on any other requests on this number.

We understand that this may occasionally cause frustration; however, these procedures are in place to support the safeguarding arrangements that help keep all children safe.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in following this guidance and supporting our staff in maintaining a safe and well-organised environment for everyone.

Family Day

Family Day is our much loved annual event where our school community comes together to improve and enhance our environment for the children. It’s a fantastic opportunity for parents, carers, and staff to work side by side, helping to repair, refresh, and build areas of the school for everyone to enjoy.

This year, Family Day will take place on Saturday 16th May, and we would love as many of you as possible to join us. Everyone is welcome, whether you can offer your time, practical skills, resources, or simply your enthusiasm and ideas, every contribution makes a real difference.

We also have a wish list of items and projects we would love support with. See the link below.

Thank you in advance for your continued support, we look forward to coming together as a community to make our school an even better place for our children.

Social Media and Online Safety- Have your say! Social Media and Online Safety- Have your say!

Our stance on the use of social media and smartphones for underage children is clear. Last year, we took the decision to ban smartphones for pupils across our federation in order to safeguard children, reduce distractions, and promote positive wellbeing. We remain firmly committed to supporting families in navigating the challenges of growing up in a digital world.

The Government is now carrying out a national consultation on further measures to help prepare children for the future in an age of rapid technological change. This includes proposals such as potential age restrictions on social media and other online services (including gaming platforms and AI chatbots), limits on addictive design features and risky functionalities, and stronger support for parents and families.

The consultation closes at 11:59pm on 26 May 2026. We encourage parents and carers to engage with the consultation and share their views to help shape future policy around children’s online safety and digital wellbeing.

Your voice matters in ensuring the right protections are in place for our children.

Prizes to be won!

Where is the most interesting place you have ever read a book? Whether it is up a tree, on top of a mountain or somewhere completely unusual, we want to see your photos!

Your challenge is to take a picture of yourself reading somewhere extreme and send it into school by Friday 5th June.

The winner from each Key Stage will receive a brand-new book, and every child who enters will receive a small book-related token prize to continue their reading journey. We will also create a display in school using the photographs.

We are really looking forward to seeing who in our school has such a passion for reading that they simply have to do it anywhere and everywhere!

Photographs can either be printed and handed into school or sent to the school office email. Please include your child’s name and class with all entries.

Parent Forum Feedback Parent Forum Feedback

Let's have a chat!

Thank you to all parents and carers who attended our recent Parent Forum sessions. We greatly value your time, contributions and honest feedback. Your views play an important role in helping us reflect on our practice and continue to improve the school for all children.

Whats going well...

  • Forest School
  • Teaching of phonics & writing
  • Interventions for SEND
  • Teachers
  • Parent Workshops
  • Reading culture
  • Cooking workshops
  • Enrichment opportunities (Bikeability/swimming)
  • Support staff (impact of targetted interventions)
  • Curriculum
  • Maths and English groupings
  • Trips

Thank you for sharing these highlights. It is wonderful to hear what is working well and to celebrate the positive experiences within our school community. We really value your feedback.

Things to work on...

  • Induction for mid-year Nursery joiners
We agree that this is an area that could be improved and are currently reviewing and refining our induction process for mid-year Nursery joiners to ensure a smoother and more supportive transition for children and families. We will share further details once this work is complete.

  • Carry on cafe structure and screen time
We agree that this is an area for improvement and have met with the team to ensure the structure of Carry On Café is implemented consistently each day. As resources are embedded, parents can expect a significant reduction in screen time from Monday 27th April.

  • Children's progress daily updates

While we recognise that daily updates on children’s progress would be beneficial, it is not something we are able to implement effectively across the school. Providing daily individual updates would place a significant demand on staff time, which would impact their ability to focus on teaching, planning and supporting pupils’ learning during the school day.

We are committed to keeping parents informed through regular communication, including reports, meetings and key updates, ensuring you have a clear understanding of your child’s progress over time.

  • Earlier notice for parental help on trips

We agree that early notice for parental support on trips is important and that this should be consistent across the school. While our current minimum notice for trips is two weeks, we see no reason why at least three weeks’ notice for parent helpers cannot be the expectation.

This will allow families more time to plan and support where possible. There may be rare occasions where shorter notice is unavoidable, such as last-minute opportunities or emergencies; however, these will be the exception. We will ensure this expectation is clearly communicated to all staff moving forward.

  • School calendar organised by year groups

While the structure of the calendar on the website cannot be changed, we recognise the need to make key dates easier to access and follow.

To support this, dates shared in the Bonneville Buzz will be organised by year group moving forward, making it simpler for families to identify relevant events and stay up to date. We hope this will improve clarity and accessibility for all parents and carers.

  • Variety of after school clubs

We are keen to offer a wide and engaging range of after-school clubs and will be issuing a survey to gather pupils’ views on the activities they most enjoy. This will help us shape a programme that better reflects their interests.

It is important to note that clubs must be viable to run. The greater the level of participation, the more variety we are able to offer. Unfortunately, clubs that are under-subscribed will not be able to go ahead. We appreciate your support in encouraging participation so we can continue to expand our offer.

  • Parent Forum & Workshop timings

We aim to offer a range of timings for workshops and give as much notice as possible so parents can plan ahead. Workshop dates are set at the start of the academic year in September and shared accordingly. Unfortunately, a start time of 8:30am is not feasible for staff ahead of a full teaching day, and after-school sessions are balanced alongside existing commitments.

For Parent Forums, our priority is to engage directly with parents through face-to-face discussion. While we understand the suggestion of pre-surveys, collating responses across the school would not be an efficient use of staff time. Parents are, of course, welcome to gather views within their classes and attend as representatives if they wish. Our aim is to ensure a broad and balanced range of voices are heard, rather than only the most vocal, and to maintain open, direct dialogue with our parent community.

  • Parent survey (specifiy year group feedback)

We understand the request to provide feedback by year group; however, this is not something we are able to accommodate within the parent survey. While experiences may vary between classes, sharing feedback in this way risks identifying individual staff members and may have an unintended negative impact.

For this reason, survey responses are anonymised and themes are shared at a whole-school level to ensure feedback remains constructive, balanced and fair.

If your experiences differ significantly between children, you are welcome to submit more than one response to reflect this.

For any specific concerns relating to your child’s class or year group, we strongly encourage you to raise these directly with the Assistant Headteacher for the phase. This allows issues to be addressed promptly, appropriately and with the necessary context.

  • Parent Consultations booking system
We recognise that there have been issues with clarity and some technical glitches within the parent consultation booking system. We will be gathering more specific feedback on these areas so that we can better understand the challenges experienced and make improvements moving forward. Our aim is to ensure the system is clear, accessible and reliable for all parents and carers.

  • Sport Events
We are keen to provide more opportunities for parents and carers to attend sports events and share in the children’s achievements. We will look to increase the number of events where possible and provide advance notice so families can plan to attend.

  • Father Figure Friday

The purpose of this event is to recognise and celebrate the positive impact of male role models in children’s lives, while providing meaningful opportunities for children to engage and connect through shared experiences. This is an important aspect of our wider work to promote representation and inclusion.

Whilst we are keen to maintain the intent and value of the event, we will review the format to consider how it can have the greatest possible impact for all children.

No dogs on school premises please! No dogs on school premises please!

Dogs on school premises

A reminder to all parents and carers that dogs are not permitted on the school premises, including the playground and school grounds, unless they are assistance dogs. This is to ensure the safety and comfort of all members of our school community.

We kindly ask everyone to support us by following this policy.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Homework

Please help support your child with their spelling by looking at the spelling rules, sounds and patterns in each word. Practicing spellings daily (or as much as possible) will help your children to learn and remember each word. In KS1, children will need to choose five spelling words to put into sentences.

In KS2, children will need to write a sentence for each word, using neat, joined handwriting.

This will allow the children to understand the meaning of each word, put the word into context, and practice their handwriting.

All spelling books must be given to the Class Teacher every Wednesday. This will ensure that your teacher has enough time to get the new spellings stuck in. Children will be doing a weekly spelling test in the back of their homework books so you will be able to see how well they are doing.

Our school meals play an important role in supporting children’s health, wellbeing, and learning. Nutritious, balanced meals help children stay focused throughout the day, support physical development, and provide the energy needed for active learning and play.

School lunches also encourage children to try a wider variety of foods, develop healthy eating habits, and enjoy mealtimes as a positive social experience with their peers. Our menus are carefully planned to meet nutritional guidelines and cater for a range of dietary needs.

By choosing school meals, families can be confident that children are receiving a healthy, well-balanced lunch that supports both their learning and overall wellbeing. We are proud of the role our school meals service plays in helping our children thrive.

Help our PTA- We are all members of FAB!

We always need more help and support. A donation of one hour per term (that’s only three hours per year) of your time is all we ask, whether it be as a class rep, planning/hosting an event, or standing on a stall. Some parents very generously agreed to host an event like our amazing wreath-making workshop or the gathering of donations for our incredible raffles. Every parent is a member of FAB. I ask that everyone get involved.

Raising a Concern

It is important to us that any concerns or questions you may have are dealt with as efficiently as possible. The structure we have in place is designed to do just that.

The structure

1) Your first port of call is -Your child’s class teacher

(email via the admin team to request a meeting)

2) You may contact the leader of your child’s phase (see below)

This includes issues regarding communication and organisation

(email via the admin team to request a meeting)

Should you be dissatisfied with the handling or outcome...

3) You may raise your concerns with Ms Parker

(email via the admin team to request a meeting outlining the nature for the purpose of the meeting)

Leaders are required to share items (as appropriate) with Ms Parker on a weekly basis, even if the matter is being handled by them.

We request that you do not field your concerns to FAB but instead work directly with the school staff as outlined above.
