August Edition

Dear Traditional Academy at Bellair Families,

Welcome to another exciting school year! We are thrilled to have our returning Silverhawks back on campus and extend a warm welcome to all of our new students and families. We are looking forward to a year filled with learning, growth, friendships, and unforgettable memories.

At The Traditional Academy at Bellair, we are committed to providing a safe, structured, and supportive environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Together, we will continue to uphold our Silverhawk values of Safety, Ownership, Achievement, and Respect as we work to help every child reach their full potential.

This year, we encourage every student to:

  • 📚 Come ready to learn each day.
  • ⭐ Show kindness and respect to others.
  • 💪 Challenge themselves to grow.
  • 🤝 Take pride in being a Silverhawk.

We believe that a strong partnership between home and school is the key to student success. We invite you to stay connected by attending school events, communicating with your child's teacher, and joining us throughout the year as we celebrate learning together.

As we begin this new journey, remember that every day is a fresh opportunity to learn something new, make a positive impact, and become the best version of yourself.

Thank you for trusting us with your children. We are honored to be part of their educational journey and cannot wait to see all they accomplish this year.

If you ever have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to email me at christine.fitzsimmons@dvusd.org or you can catch me in the front parking lot at drop-off and pick-up.

Have an AMAZING August!!

Sincerely,

Principal Fitzsimmons

PBIS Acronym S.O.A.R. PBIS Acronym S.O.A.R.

What is PBIS?

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based, tiered framework for supporting students’ behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health. When implemented with fidelity, PBIS improves social emotional competence, academic success, and school climate. It also improves teacher health and wellbeing. It is a way to create positive, predictable, equitable and safe learning environments where everyone thrives. We use ‘students’ to refer to all children and youth in any educational or therapeutic setting (e.g., K-12 school, early childhood program, treatment program, juvenile justice program). Learn more about PBIS in schools, classrooms, early childhood programs and juvenile justice programs on those topic pages.

Our new PBIS Acronym is S.O.A.R. Silverhawks show Safety, Ownership, Achievement and Respect. Please help us to instill these behaviors at home, so we can all "S.O.A.R. to #Extraordinary Heights Together!"
