Progress Reports sent home on 9/24/2026 Progress Reports sent home on 9/24/2026

Keep an eye out for your child’s progress report which went home this Thursday, September 24! Along with the progress report, your student will also bring home two custom magnets:

  1. CPS General Calendar Magnet: Keep key dates and school holidays visible all year long.

  2. At-Home Attendance Tracker Magnet: Use this magnet as a "data wall" at home! You and your child can add tally marks whenever they are absent or tardy so you can track their attendance progress together.

Remember, being at school on time and ready to learn opens up awesome incentives for our students! Tracking attendance at home is a great way to celebrate their progress and keep them motivated.

Next Steps & Resources:

  • Review Together: Take time over the weekend to sit down with your child to review their progress report and set up your attendance tracker.

  • Connect with Teachers: Use TalkingPoints to reach out to your child’s teacher if you want to follow up on grades or classroom progress.

  • Parent Portal Access: You can monitor attendance and grades anytime through the Parent Portal (see the bottom of this newsletter for setup instructions).

  • Need Help? If you need assistance setting up your Parent Portal account, please contact Jessica Moreno at jmoreno83@cps.edu.

Attendance & Punctuality Reminder: Help Us Keep Classrooms Focused!

Building daily routines and getting students to school on time is a continuous partnership between parents, students, and our school team. Consistency early in the semester establishes habits that support long-term achievement.

This week, our focus is on punctuality and maintaining a distraction-free classroom. While students arriving on time may enjoy outside food (i.e. McDonald's, Starbucks, Dunkin', etc.) before the bell, fast food and outside beverages will no longer be permitted in classrooms after 7:55 AM tardy time.

Please note: Our school provides breakfast for all students until 10:30 AM. There is no need to make a stop for food or drinks on the way to school, especially if students are already running late! Please ensure students arrive directly to school so they can head straight to class ready to LEARN and start their routine with the rest of their classmates: social-emotional learning/literacy.

Key Policies & Reminders:

  • Arrival: Doors open at 7:40 AM, and the school day begins promptly at 7:45 AM.

  • Grace Period: Students are officially marked tardy at 7:55 AM.

  • School Breakfast: Free breakfast is available to all students until 10:30 AM.

  • Tardy Policy: Per CPS guidelines, every 3 tardies results in a lunch reflection for students in grades 3–8.

If your family faces barriers or needs support to get your child to school consistently and on time, please reach out to our team—we are here to help! Let’s work together to boost our attendance numbers.

Birthday Celebrations Birthday Celebrations

We want to ensure that every student is celebrated! To keep celebrations equitable and minimize classroom interruptions, please note the following update:

  • Individual Birthday Treats: Individual birthday treats or items brought in on your child's actual birthday are no longer permitted.

  • Monthly Class Celebrations: Each classroom will designate one day per month to celebrate all students with birthdays in that month.

  • Parent Collaboration: Parents of students being celebrated that month are welcome to work together with the Room Parent to help organize the monthly event.

After Care Programming After Care Programming

We’re excited to continue offering our After-Care program to support working families, with some important updates to help keep the program sustainable and affordable. This year, we will continue with a tuition-based model to help cover staff and supply costs.

  • The program will run daily from 2:45 PM to 4:30 PM

  • All program fees will be collected on a semester basis (twice per year).

  • All fees must be paid in full prior to the start of each semester or before a student may begin participating in the program.

  • Any outstanding balances from the previous school year must also be paid in full before your child can enroll or participate in the SY26 program.

Please note that students must be able to work independently, and consistent behavior issues may result in removal from the program.

Keep in mind, you need to 2 things for students to be able to stay:

1. Fill out the Registration Form for each student

2. Pay the $285.00 fee BEFORE your child(ren) start staying in the program. You can pay via Aspen Parent Portal or by cash.
