May in the Library
Lower Moreland Middle School
So Far This Year π
Welcome Mr. Malone!
After Ms. Grosso's retirement back in January and Ms. Stewart filling in as our long-term substitute Maker Lab teacher and librarian, the LMMS library welcomes our new full-time teacher, Mr. Malone.
Mr. Malone is a proud Lower Moreland alumni with a love for Philly sports, history, and helping students reach their full potential. Please join us in welcoming our new librarian and Maker Lab teacher by stopping by the library to say hello!
New Books
The LMMS Library has received many new titles for the 25-26 school year. We have new books from award winning series such as The Hunger Games and Percy Jackson and the Olympians. We also added brand new authors to our ever-growing collection of novels like the Truly Devious series by Maureen Johnson and winner of the 2025 John Newbery Medal, The First State of Being by Erin Entrada Kelly.
Manga Section
We have gotten a lot of requests for manga over the years and are slowly, but surely growing our collection. Because of this growth we have decided to dedicate a shelf just to manga. Please let us know if you have any requests for this section so we can add them to our order list for next school year!
If you have any requests for novels, comic books, non-fiction, or anything else you can think of there is a suggestion box on the circulation desk at the front of the library.

Events π«
Celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month is a month meant to celebrate the accomplishments, history, and culture of AAPI communities.
For this month (May 1st to May 31st) our library team has compiled titles about and/or written by Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders. Please explore our display at the front of the library if you have any interest.
If you want more information on Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month please visit the link below to explore their official government page.
Mental Health Awareness Month
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Everyone struggles with their mental health or has known someone who has which is why it is important to raise awareness and break the stigma.
One of the best ways to spread awareness on a topic is through literature so our team has made a list of some of the best titles that discuss mental health. Whether you want to learn more about a topic or you relate to it yourself, come by and pick up a book from this list.
LMMS has many resources available if you are struggling with something. Do not hesitate to use these resources if you feel you or someone you know needs them.
