PC Library Resources for Staff!

Hooray! Students have been coming to the library and checking out books! If you need to tweak your library time, please let me know. There is wiggle room in the schedule so please feel free to talk to me about any changes you might need to make.

At this time, returned books are being quarantined for a week which will cause a delay for those books to be checked in. Don't worry if your students do not bring books to the library. I will be monitoring how many books they have, but most of the time I will be allowing students to check out at least one.

Remember, if you need books for curriculum or books just to read for you or students to read for fun in your classroom, please let me know! I will pull and check the books out to you and either put them in your box or deliver them to your classroom.

Please let remote students know that we are still providing curbside service!

We have a new library aide! Her name is Teresa Vallejo! I gave her a tour of the building and she got to meet many of you but if I missed you be sure to stop by and say hello! Ms. Vallejo will be at Park Crest on Tuesdays and Thursdays!

Please encourage those students that are staying virtual to use our Curbside Service! They can order books from the Book Request button on the Library Canvas Home page. I will checkout, bag up and deliver books to their car. They stay in their vehicle and call the office to let us know they are out front of the school and I will come out with the books.

Please let me know if you need any materials from the library. I am happy to pull books, check them out to you and deliver them to your classroom. Don't know a specific title? No problem! I can usually find a book to fit most skills and topics so just let me know!

MyOn is a FREE resource available to all GISD students that gives them access to THOUSANDS of ebooks! They can use tablets, laptops, computers, or other devices to access myOn. No reliable wifi? Never fear! MyOn can even be accessed once you go offline!

Students access it through GISD Ready Hub.

This resource is also accessible through community libraries for non-GISD students! Find out how here.

Our library catalog is available on every district computer. On your desktop, you will find a little green book with a red ribbon. This is the district Destiny catalog and also the access to many online resources Brittanica Online, Tumblebooks, National Geographic Kids, and PebbleGo. Click on the green book and then click on our school.

You can look for all materials available in our library. Right now we are restricted to our library for materials since there is no ILL at this time. There is a "list" feature on the right side of the screen. You can create a list, put books in this list, copy the list and send it to me by email. I will pull the books, check them out to you and put them in your box. There is no limit on the number of books you can check out.
