EJMS Families,
We had a great week at school with Spring Showcase, Honor Choir, Book Fair, another 5th grade visit from Brookside Elementary, many athletic events, and the 8th grade Semi Formal Dance. We have a busy four weeks of school remaining!
Chromebook Return Plan
Students will be returning their Chromebooks at the end of the year and teachers will inspect devices for any unknown damage that has occurred. See below for replacement costs in case they apply to your child:
$275 for Lost Devices or full replacement cost
$50 for Screen damage or replacement
$40 for Keyboards
$20 for front frame bezel (frame that covers screen)
$10 hinge cover bar (bar that covers hinge pins)
If you know that your child’s device needs any of the above replacements you can send money to the office and we will process the fee. Otherwise all devices will be assessed for any damages (including other possible damage not listed above) and parents will be notified of the fees incurred through Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Remember that all Chromebook damage replacement costs must be paid in full in order for students to be eligible to attend any extracurricular activities (field trips and any after school activities). 8th grade students must have fees paid before the end of the school year. 6th and 7th grade students must have all fees paid (and Online Registration completed) prior to next school year in order to begin the scheduling process. If these items are not completed by the end of the school year your child may not get their requested Arts classes.
KSA (Kentucky Summative Assessment) Testing
There are no excused absences for EHO days for East Middle students during the testing dates below. Please make sure your child is at school on time, well rested, and ready to test each day and try to avoid scheduling any appointments during the following testing dates:
6th grade - May 12th (Reading) and 13th (Math)
7th grade - May 6th (Reading) ,7th (Math), 8th (Science)
8th grade - May 6th (Reading), 7th (Math), 8th (SS),12th (Editing and Mechanics),13th (On Demand Writing)
As part of testing we will have a Good Faith Effort rubric (see below).

- Tuesday, May 6th - KSA Reading for 7th and 8th grade
- Wednesday, May 7th - KSA Math for 7th and 8th grade
- Thursday, May 8th - KSA Science for 7th grade and Social Studies for 8th grade
- Friday, May 9th - East High House Reveal for 8th grade
- Monday, May 12th - KSA Reading for 6th grade and Editing/Mechanics for 8th grade
- Tuesday, May 13th - KSA Math for 6th grade and On Demand Writing for 8th grade
- Tuesday, May 13th - 5th grade parent night
- Wednesday, May 14th - 6th grade field trip to Lexington Legends game
It's Book Fair time! And we're turning up the volume on this year's Fair with more books and more choices than ever! The purchase of every book helps promote the joy of reading and supports our students by helping fund our school library! Students can stop in the EJMS library from 4/22-4/29.
