Principal Corner
Greetings Oak View,
We are in the home stretch of the school year and have many exciting events and celebrations ahead of us. I want to revisit parking and end of the day procedures so that we can ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all our students, families and community members.
Parent Pick Up - Due to safety concerns, the City of Maple Grove increased signage on East Fish Lake Road to support people safely crossing the road in front of the entrance of Oak View. This helped solve one problem but ended up creating a new one. The congestion in that area from 3:45-4:00 is making it very unsafe. I worked with our district safety and security team and we came up with some procedures that will help. Here are the expectations we need everyone to adhere to:
We have the most congestion and unsafe conditions from about 3:50-4:00 by the entrance of Oak View.
Do not pull over to the side of the road to wait in line by the solid white lines on East Fish Lake Road. This is noted on the attached visual in red.
You can pull off to the side of the road where there is no solid white line or come in and park in the lot.
Do not wait in line or have your car parked anywhere near the cross walk or the entrance of the school.
The fastest option to pick up your kids is to pull into the parking lot, park and come to the front of the entrance to pick up your children.
As Oak View continues to grow over the next few years, we will work to refine our procedures to make them as smooth and safe as possible.
I’m grateful for the help and support of our amazing community!

DARE Graduation - On Friday May 16th, our 5th graders will be participating in our annual DARE Graduation from 2:00-3:30. Kids have been working hard all year on DARE programming with officers from Maple Grove. DARE stands for: Drug Abuse Resistance Education. It is a drug abuse prevention education program designed to equip elementary, middle and high school children with knowledge about drug abuse, the consequences of abuse, and skills for resisting peer pressure to experiment with drugs, alcohol and tobacco. We’ll have additional parking in our back parking lot near the hockey rinks. If you plan on taking your student(s) after the program, please fill out the survey below:
Water Day/Student of the Month Assembly - June 3rd - We are starting a new tradition at Oak View for our final Student of the Month Assembly. It’s called Water Day! Each grade level will honor the May/June Students of the Month and then we’re going to play a big game of water sponge dodgeball. There will be two teams with small pools and tons of sponges. When we say go, students will throw water sponges at each other and adults who plan to participate. Students may bring their swimsuits or a change of clothing for this day. They can also opt out and just watch if they prefer. The date for Water Day is Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025. Here are the times for the assemblies:
11:30-12:00 - 5th grade
12:40-1:10 - Kindergarten
1:15-1:45 - 2nd grade
1:50-2:20 - 4th grade
2:35-3:05 - 3rd grade
3:10-3:40 -1st grade
Last Day of School Husky Hero Parade - Please save the date and time to come cheer on our scholars and staff on Friday, June 6th starting around 3:15. This is a new tradition we’re starting here at Oak View. Kids will have a short presentation in the gym and then we’ll be parading around the building. Families and caregivers can line the back parking lot to cheer on the classrooms. Classes will be creating fun posters, songs and chants to celebrate the year. Families are encouraged to bring bubbles and use them as students walk by. Families can also walk with their children in the parade.
If you’d like to bring your children home early, that will be an option. Angie will be sending home grade level google forms to fill out to each grade separately.
More information to come as well as a parking map
