Make-ups: STAR Assessments continues. Please encourage your GMS student to get a good nights rest, charge their Chromebook/device and make sure that they bring it to school every day. Please note: Loaner devices are available for students who are having their device fixed through the EMSD TechBench. If you have any questions please reach out, through email to your students ELA or Math teacher and/or Mr. Ryan. Good Luck on the Spring STAR Assessment!
Dangerous Social Media Trend...
We would like to inform all GMS families about the latest trend spreading on TikTok and other social media platforms that poses a serious threat to student safety and school technology.
This trend involves students inserting small items such as paper clips, pencil lead, scissors, among other objects into Chromebook charging ports intentionally causing electrical short circuits. These actions can cause devices to short circuit, smoke and lead to sparks, potential fires, and serious injury to themselves and those nearby.
Students who engage in this dangerous activity will be held responsible and be subject to disciplinary consequences including suspension, loss of end of the year grade activities, and 8th grade Promotion.
Please note that depending on the outcome of these actions, students can be held accountable for Criminal Damages that may be pursued through the East Moline Police Department.
We are asking for your support in speaking with your student about the very real dangers of this behavior and the consequences, as well as reinforcing the importance of taking the utmost care of district issued technology. If you have questions please reach out to the GMS Main Office at 309.755.1919.
EMSD Online Registration is open for SY 25.26 - If you have any questions please call the GMS Main Office 309.755.1919.
Have a GATOR Week! 💙🐊💛
