Cohort Update "Honor" -2022-
"History in the Making" (2/22/21)
- Honor -
Greetings class of 2022 and to the Warrior Nation. Sadly, this week wraps up our four week celebration of Honoring Black History excellence, however we can keep the positive energy going by taking a closer look at the word Honor. To Honor means, "to regard or treat (someone or something) with admiration and respect, to give special recognition to or to live up to or fulfill the terms of something or someone". When you break this down, it can give each of us a great opportunity to connect to the past and do something beyond ourselves for now and for the future. For example, if I make a choice to follow the laws within the land, I am giving Honor to the civility of my community. If you make the decision to wake up and do your best at whatever task or goal you have set for yourself that day, then you are Honoring yourself and your family. And, if we practice treating each other with love, respect and humility then we are Honoring all of the heroes of the past and present who have sacrificed everything so we can enjoy our now. I look forward to each day that I am able to walk the halls of WCHS and see the bright stars of the future and I hope that each of you Honor yourselves in all that you do. By making your own day bright, subsequently, you will shine for others to follow thus Honoring yourself and your talents . Have a super week and just be AWESOME!!!

We have entered into our final week of Black History Month - Honoring Greatness!!!
Be sure to connect with your teachers this week to ensure you have all of your needed assignments completed and ready to be reviewed. Please log into your Zoom meetings, Canvas and or Apex as you are assigned to do so.
Reminder: Tutoring will be back in session beginning this week on Monday's and Thursday's. Come to the west café (Near the Freshman Academy) from 2:30 pm-4:30 pm.
On a personal note, I challenge each of you to not only Honor yourself each day that you have the opportunity to be great, but to make conscious efforts to walk in the path that will bring Honor to those who have come before you. Take time to Honor your time, your efforts of success, your daily choices and the legacy that you are creating for those who will follow in your footsteps. Be mindful that many WCHS Warriors have made specific moves along the way to help set you up for greatness, now it is your time to Honor those efforts and sacrifices and grab your opportunity by the horn! Please know that I am here to help you along this journey and your entire cohort team is in your corner rooting for you to achieve any and all of your lifelong goals. Take a deep breath and let's make the most of the time we have this week! Here's to being excellent and awesome!!!
- Never stop trying...
- Never stop believing...
- Never give up on yourself...
- Because you are enough...
Guess who Loves you?

From Mrs. Boyd - your Cohort Secretary!!!
Oh Yeah!!!!! I can not tell you how excited I am to have you all back in the building walking to and from classes and getting the education that will propel you into your future. While you are here be sure to practice good social distancing and keep your hands clean at all times. Your mask must be worn over your face and mouth so you protect yourself. And PLEASE stop by the office and say "what's up" on your scheduled in person day. If you are virtual and want to email me - get it drafted and send it my way!
By The Way - A little birdie told me that, as a group, you all have been getting much better at email etiquette. THANK YOU for being respectful and responsible when communicating with your teachers and cohort team! Look at US practicing CORE and being Juniors!!!
Remember, If you have a new phone number, email address or new address where you live please get that information to me as soon as possible. If you have moved or your address has changed you must provide me with a new lease or mortgage and utility bill information.
Work permits are still being accepted. You can come by with your completed forms and I will look up all of your information to see if you will granted permission to be employed and earn some good money this semester. FYI...school work comes first!
Take time to Honor yourself and be great...you have 24 hours each day to make moves, use your time wisely!!!

Celebrate Greatness and Continue Honoring Black History Month!
Beginning Monday, February 22, counselors will be pulling students out of US History classes for both in person meetings and virtually. If you do not have a US History class you will meet with your counselor virtually or at another appropriate time during the school day as classes and time allows.
To help better prepare and to ensure that your time is utilized during your meeting with your counselor, please take note of the following items...
1. Students are expected to have at least 12 of their 14 classes picked ahead of time in the Course Request tab on your Synergy page. Be sure to select the classes that you WANT to take and we will double check to ensure all selections are appropriate and or needed. Please be sure to encourage your parents and or guardians to look through these selections as well. Scheduling Video Attached.
2. For time sake, and so we know what classes you want to take, please select classes that you want to take! Even if you think you won't need some of these subjects or plan to take something in summer school, you are better to add it in and discuss that with your counselor during your meeting. We advise you to sign up for...
* 2 semesters of English
* 2 semesters of Math
* 2 semesters of Science
* 1 semester of Government
* 1 semester of Economics
3. Sessions will be approximately 10-minute in length and can be found in the link on the 2022 Canvas page. You must sign up at least 1 day in advance for your timeslot. The counselors need at least 1 day in advance to prepare your items so your time spent will be productive and beneficial to your goals of graduating in 2022!!!
(Click below to sign up for your 10 minute spot)
Ms. Reynolds will be available via Zoom from 8:00 AM-1:00 PM on Gold Days.
Mr. Howe will be available via Zoom from 8:00 AM-1:00 PM on Black Days.
Also keep in mind that the recommended classes that were pre-loaded for you are only based on your classes and performance this year and not on your performance as a whole. As we check your schedule, the recommendation for you may change. We will communicate these changes with you as we go.
Please remember to reach out to Mr. Fletcher with questions about SAT/ACT, fee waivers, scholarships, college applications, and all things related to preparing to continue your education. gfletche@warren.k12.in.us
