June Monthly Update
From the Principal's Desk
A Message from Mr. Clark
Helping children avoid regression during the summer months can involve a balanced approach of academic, social, and physical activities. Here are some effective strategies:
1. Establish a Routine: Maintain a daily schedule that includes time for learning, play, and rest. Routines provide structure and stability.
2. Incorporate Reading: Encourage daily reading by setting aside time for it. Consider visiting libraries or participating in summer reading programs to keep kids engaged.
3. Educational Activities: Integrate learning into fun activities. Use games, puzzles, or educational apps that focus on math, science, or language arts.
4. Outdoor Learning: Organize nature walks, museum visits, or local events that provide educational experiences outside the classroom.
5. Encourage Hobbies: Support children in pursuing new hobbies or interests, such as art, music, or sports, which can help stimulate their minds and bodies.
6. Social Interaction: Arrange playdates or join community groups to encourage socializing. Maintaining friendships and making new ones helps in emotional development.
7. Limit Screen Time: Set reasonable limits on television and video game usage to encourage more interactive and constructive activities.
8. Family Learning Projects: Engage in family projects, like gardening or cooking, which can be both educational and enjoyable.
9. Consistent Learning Goals: Set specific, achievable learning goals for the summer. Regularly review these with your child to keep them focused.
10. Open Communication: Discuss what your child wants to learn or explore over summer. Involving them in the planning fosters enthusiasm and accountability.
Implementing these strategies can help ensure that children stay engaged and continue their academic and social development throughout the summer break.

Video Project Description:
In this dynamic and creative lesson, students delved into the art of stop motion animation by combining technology with storytelling. Using Google Slides, students designed and sequenced frames, carefully adjusting elements to create the illusion of motion. To enhance their animations, they incorporated visuals and design elements from Canva, elevating their projects with professional-quality graphics. Finally, they added finishing touches with music from Pixabay, giving their animations a polished, cinematic feel.
This lesson not only introduced students to the principles of animation but also fostered essential skills such as planning, collaboration, digital design, and multimedia integration. The final products showcased their creativity and technical skills, leaving them with a newfound appreciation for digital storytelling.
In this engaging and hands-on lesson, students explored the creative possibilities of Google Drawings. They learned how to manipulate basic shapes—resizing, rotating, layering, and adjusting colors—to design their own original artwork. The activity encouraged creativity while reinforcing essential digital design skills such as shape manipulation, spatial awareness, and visual composition. Students showcased their individual styles, resulting in a variety of imaginative and unique digital creations.
This lesson not only built confidence in using Google Workspace tools but also provided an opportunity to think critically and problem-solve while working within a digital medium.
TIES Program Spring Highlights
The Together Including Every Student (TIES) program has had a fun and active spring! Participants and Peer Volunteers enjoyed a variety of inclusive events that brought everyone together for friendship and fun. Highlights included our TIES Bingo Meet and Greet, a great way for families, Participants, and Peer Volunteers to connect; ice-skating at David McCarthy Memorial Ice Arena in Batavia; and an ongoing Lunch Buddy group that fosters social connections during the school day. We wrapped up the season with Spring Track, where a TIES Participant competed in the Shot-Put event with the support of 3 Peer Volunteers. Thanks to everyone who helped make these events a success!
