Extra Curricular Activities
We have a very busy term ahead with a lot of extra curriculum activities beginning over the coming weeks.
- Swimming: 1st & 2nd Class pupils will begin their 8 week term of swimming lessons at the Aura in Trim next Thursday 16th Jan. Swimming is an important element of the PE Curriculum and the children always really enjoyed these lessons together!
Irish Sign Language (ISL): As part of our ongoing efforts to foster a more inclusive environment, pupils in 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th Classes will begin Irish Sign Language (ISL) lessons next month through the Say Yes to Languages Initiative. The lessons will run for 10 weeks, and we hope to learn and use a variety of words and phrases during this time. These classes will also have the opportunity to share their learning with the rest of the school.
Hurling and GAA: We have our GPO Neil visiting our school every Wednesday for Hurling Sessions with Junior Infants, Senior Infants, 1st and 2nd Class.
Ukulele:Mrs. Prendergast's, Ms. O'Loughlin's, and Ms. Mollison's students are continuing their ukulele lessons with Josephine every Tuesday this term. The boys and girls always have a big smile for Josie and seem to really enjoy these lessons!
Lullaby Leaf: Ms Prendergast's Class will be attending an immersive multi-sensory show called lullaby leaf at the Swift Cultural Centre next Wednesday - We hope they have a wonderful time!
Peace Proms Workshop: The boys and girls involved in the Peace Proms choir are working hard in preparation for their big show happening on Sunday February 2nd at the RDS Arena.
Catholic Schools Week & Grandparents Day
Catholic Schools will take place from Sunday 19 to Saturday 25 January 2025. On the Wednesday of Catholic Schools Week, we celebrate Grandparents. We would like to extend an invitation to the Grandparents of all pupils from First to Sixth Class to join us for Mass at 9:30am at Dangan Church on Wednesday, the 22nd. While we hope to see many Grandparents in attendance, we understand if this is not feasible for everyone. On this day, we will be honouring all Grandparents, including those who are no longer with us.
The Junior Infant and Senior Infant Pupils are planning something special for their Grandparents also, we will follow up with more information very soon.
First Holy Communion Enrolment
Pupils in 2nd Class who are due to receive their First Holy Communion in May are kindly reminded to submit their First Communion Enrolment forms to Fr. Vincent at the end of any Sunday Mass throughout the month of January. Fr. Vincent requests that all enrolment forms be submitted by Sunday, February 2nd.
