Our 1st graders were at the Dodge Nature Center this week looking for animal tracks. I would say they were successful!!!

Every Moment Matters!

Instruction starts promptly at 7:45! You will notice that our outside drop off staff will be available from 7:30-7:45 in the morning. We will continue to keep the front doors open until 7:50, but after that time, you will need to walk your child in to the office.

Jump Rope for Heart

Our Jump Rope for Heart Challenge will take place on Friday, February 17! Parents are welcome to come and help out as you are able with the day's activities!

Schedule for the Day:

8:00am-9:00am: 2nd Grade

9:00am-10:00am: 1st Grade

10:00am-11:00am: Kindergarten

12:00pm-1:00pm: 4th Grade

1:00pm-2:00pm: 3rd Grade

Juice Box and Fruit Snack Donations Needed

As many of you know, our Kid's Heart Challenge is underway! Donations will be accepted until February 17.

February 17th is also our annual Jump Day. All students will have one hour in the gym with the rest of their grade learning about the heart, doing fun games, jumping rope and having some fun snacks!

We are looking for donations of juice boxes and fruit snacks to give to every student that day. Juice boxes and fruit snacks can be dropped off at the front office anytime now through February 16.

National African American Parent Involvement Day

Monday, February 13 is National African American Parent Involvement Day. We value the diversity we have here at Somerset and would love to see our African American students' families represented in our volunteers on Kindness Day on Tuesday, February 14! We understand that is is a day late, so thank you in advance for your flexibility!

Somerset Kindness Day

This year Somerset is continuing our Kindness Day and service learning approach to Valentine’s Day. Rather than focusing on store bought cards and candy we will take the opportunity to involve the students more authentically. Sometime during the day, children will be involved in service learning opportunity through the non-profit Doing Good Together.

We are looking forward to benefiting several local organizations including: Children's Hospital of MN, Autism Society of Minnesota, Southview Acres Health Center, Meals on Wheels and the Animal Humane Society. We are also adding a station that will encourage students to continue to spread kindness at home!

In order for this event to be a success we need donations of items for the stations, as well as volunteers to help run stations the day of the event. Please click on the link below to either donate station materials or to join us as a volunteer!

Celebrating student friendships, practicing empathy and building a stronger school community are all goals we can work toward with these activities which are also supported by our whole school Somerset STAR Behavior practices. Thank you for your continued support as we work toward these important goals.

We ask that you do not send any Valentine cards or candy to school with your child. We will accept any unaddressed valentines for donations to Neighbors, Inc., which serves families in northern Dakota County.

We are very excited about the opportunities for our students and trust that it will be a fun and meaningful day of celebrating our wonderful Somerset Star Students!

Kindness Day Donations & Volunteering

Come join us at the Somerset Social!

The Somerset silent action is an adult-only social event and the school’s annual fundraiser. There will be food and appetizers, cash bar and a DJ! You will have the chance to bid on donated items, services, and events. 100% of the proceeds are used for educational and enrichment programs, resources and equipment for the students. It's a great way to meet parents, socialize, and raise money for our school!

Date: Saturday, March 4th, 2023 – 6:30pm - 10:30pm

Location: Southview Country Club - 239 Mendota Rd E, West St Paul, MN 55118

Tickets: $15 for first-time attendees $25 before Feb. 21 $35 regular admission

Somerset Social Donation Opportunities!

The Somerset Social is an adult only social event and Somerset’s annual fundraiser. The purpose is to build community within our school and raise money. In order to build that community, we need your help! There are multiple ways to support the event and help raise money to support our children’s education. Donated items, services, and events are auctioned off to raise money for the school. 100% of the proceeds are used for educational and enrichment programs, resources and equipment for the students. The event is sponsored by the PTA.
