As we settle into summer, I wanted to take a moment to welcome both our returning Thunder families and those who are joining the Thompson Middle School community for the first time. We are excited to partner with you during the 2026-27 school year and look forward to another outstanding year together.
The primary reason for sending this update early is to share several important dates that will take place before and at the start of the school year. Please review the information below and mark your calendars. As many of our families know, Thompson tends to have a busy beginning and end of the school year, and we want to provide as much advance notice as possible to help with planning.
While students and staff enjoy a well-deserved summer break, our maintenance and custodial teams waste very little time preparing the building for another school year. Even though Thompson hosts numerous district and community events throughout the summer months, our custodial crews work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the building is clean, welcoming, and ready for students and staff in August. Their dedication is remarkable, and we are incredibly grateful for the work they do each summer.
I also wanted to share a significant accomplishment from the 2025-26 school year regarding student attendance. Compared to the 2024-25 school year, Thompson had approximately 60 fewer students who missed 10% or more of the school year. At the same time, we had approximately 130 more students who missed less than 5% of the school year (see the detailed graphics below).
This is an incredible achievement and a testament to what can happen when students, families, and staff work together to prioritize daily attendance. We know that students learn best when they are present, engaged, and connected to their school community. Thank you for your partnership and commitment to ensuring students are at school each day. Together, let's continue building on this success during the 2026-27 school year.

Dear D303 Families,
We are excited to share that beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, D303 will be moving to a new Student Information System called Synergy.
For families and students, this means two new online portals for you to access important information: ParentVUE and StudentVUE. These will replace Home Access Center (HAC) as the way you stay connected with your student's gradebook, attendance, report cards, and so much more.
This transition is a step forward for our district, and our staff have been hard at work preparing for it. Behind the scenes, teams have been setting up the new system, transferring student data from our current system to Synergy, and training D303 employees so we are ready to support staff, students, and families.

Creating your ParentVUE accounts
Logging in and accessing the new portals
A navigation overview to help you find what you need in the new portal

Summer is just around the corner and we are busy planning our summer athletic camps. Our camps will offer a variety of opportunities for students to improve their skills and have fun in six different sports! All summer athletic camps will be facilitated by Thompson Middle School coaches. Students will participate in a variety of skill-building activities and will be introduced to the same plays and philosophies that they will use when participating in middle school athletics. The philosophy of our camps is simple: have fun, improve skills, and learn good sportsmanship!
