Message from Mr. Imbusch

Dear students, staff, and parents/guardians:

As my earlier email explained, today Walpole High was the victim of Swatting. This is "the action or practice of making a prank call to emergency services in an attempt to bring about the dispatch of a large number of armed police officers to a particular address". However, everyone acted according to our critical incident response plan, and this gave the police the space to ensure that no threat existed in or around the school building as quickly as possible. We appreciate everyone's cooperation.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,

Stephen Imbusch

Principal

Learn about the WHS Building Project at the first PAC Meeting, Oct 23rd, 7:00pm

Dear WHS Families,

On behalf of the WHS PAC, we would like to welcome all new and returning families to the WHS community. We are looking forward to another great year! Please join us for our first meeting – Wednesday, October 23rd at 7:00pm in the Media Center.

All parents/guardians are encouraged to attend to learn more about what’s happening at Walpole High School. Principal Imbusch will provide a back-to-school update and highlight the plans for the WHS building expansion.

What we do and how we do it
The major activities the PAC supports are related to Staff Appreciation. This year we welcomed staff back to school with refreshing slushies from local favorite Rita's. We are planning a breakfast treat on one of the professional development days and we periodically restock the staff room with coffee/tea/hot chocolate and sweet and salty treats. Our big annual event is a fun luncheon celebration for all staff in May.

As we do not participate in traditional fundraising efforts, our budget comes from the generosity of our WHS families. Your contributions are always welcome. Please consider making a family donation any time: Venmo @Whs-Donations (include “PAC donation” in the notes) or by check (payable to WHS PAC and send to the office). Thank you for your help in showing the staff how much they are appreciated!

Future PAC meeting dates - mark your calendar!
February 26th – Learning about the WHS course selection process
April 30th – The college planning process; parent panel discussion

If you have any questions prior to the meetings, please email the PAC at whspac@walpole.k12.ma. Thank you for your support. We hope to see many of you on October 23rd at 7pm in the Media Center!

November 15th WMS/WHS Skating Event

We are excited to offer a social gathering for Middle and High school students in the METCO Program and Walpole resident students. This opportunity will allow them to come together for an afternoon of skating and pizza.

The social gathering will take place in Boston at Chez Vous Skating Rink on Friday, November 15th, from 12:30 -2:30pm. Students are encouraged to sign up for the event. This event is free and food will be provided. Transportation will be provided from Walpole Middle and High School to Chez Vous, and return to Walpole High School around 3:30pm. There is space for fifty Walpole resident students to attend. Twenty-five from each school. My hope is to have two counselors/staff from the middle school and high school to attend and assist as chaperone. Because this is an event for students only, parents are not required to join. Parents do have the option of meeting us there. Students in the METCO program must be picked up from Chez Vous Skating Rink by 2:30pm

Parents/students must sign up via the Google form:. Please fill out this Google Form

Permission Slips must be returned by Thursday, October 31, 2024

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Attached is the flyer for the event.
