School Achievements:
We are thrilled to announce that our students showcased their exceptional skills at the recent Spelling Bee. A heartfelt congratulations to our talented spellers for their remarkable achievements. Your hard work and dedication are truly commendable!

In today's backpacks, you should find your students grade card. We encourage parents and guardians to review these with your students and celebrate their academic accomplishments. Should you have any questions or require additional information, please don't hesitate to reach out to your students teachers.

5th Grade Update
Math: Since break, we have been continuing our work with Decimals. Specific topics include fraction and decimal equivalence, rounding decimals, and adding / subtracting decimals. On Friday, we had a quiz covering these concepts. This quiz grade will be one of the first grades for the third quarter. Next week, we will do a little work with conversions before moving into some more division concepts.
Science: We are completing the Life Science Unit with an assessment covering the concepts learned throughout the unit. Students have a study guide, notes in their science folder, and their interactive notebook to study for the test. They may also find links for review games in Canvas as well. Students are excited to explore Earth and Space as we move into our next science unit!

Counselor’s Corner
Recently, fifth graders participated in a career awareness lesson which focused on
Dr. John Holland’s theory that career and vocational choices are based on six personality types. Students completed an interest inventory that helped them to determine their “career code” from these categories: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, or Conventional. O*Net Online.org provides useful information for students to explore a variety of occupations based on their career code.
