Dual Credit Information

If your 10th grader signed up for Dual credit classes for 11th grade, they recently received information via email from counselor Sarah Killion about how to apply to Collin College and information about signing up to take the TSIA if they need it. The TSIA will be given at McMillen on February 17th (it is too late to sign up for the January 27th administration). Your student’s email contained information about whether they need to take the TSIA, or you may contact Sarah Killion at sarah.killion@pisd.edu to verify if your student needs this important test. Collin College Representatives are currently visiting McMillen to help students get their applications complete if they need assistance. Please encourage your student to get these important steps completed. After March 2nd, any students who have not completed their required steps for Dual Credit classes will be unenrolled in Dual Credit and their classes will be changed for 11th grade.

If your student no longer wishes to take Dual Credit, or if your student is not signed up for Dual Credit but now wishes to be, please notify Ms. Killion.

Disclaimer: An error was made in this ZOOM meeting. A statement was made that Physics was required for the Distinguished level of Achievement Diploma. That is not correct. Four credits of science are required but Physics does not have to be one of them. We’re very sorry for any confusion this may have caused.

Our East, Senior, and West campus student/cadet participation is now purely on a voluntary basis. All non Plano East student/cadet participants are encouraged to have their parents drive their student/cadet to the workshop. The drop off and pickup location is the Plano East North parking lot near the baseball field, off Los Rios Boulevard, at 8:15 am and 3:30pm. Breakfast is available in the cafeteria and lunch will be provided in their leadership and ethics engagement rooms. I will have a cadet at Panther Circle/flag pole to direct everyone to the school auditorium. From 8:20-8:25 am, we will organize the student/cadets into 7 color coded groupings before entering the auditorium. The facilitators and teachers or substitutes will be positioned in the auditorium with colored coded signs to allow the student/cadet participants to quickly sit with their assigned facilitator.

Once our participation number reaches 130 student/cadets, I will inform all to cease pursuing additional attendees.

We are also selling Program Advertisements as well. If you own a business or someone in your family owns a business, they can promote their business in our show playbill. Or if you have students in the show and would like to send them a Shout Out, I know they would love it. All advertisements are due to McMillen Theater by February 16.
