FPS Families,

As we begin our winter break, I would like to thank you for your partnership and support throughout the first half of the school year. Our staff works tirelessly to serve students each day, and I am incredibly proud of their dedication.

I hope this break offers your family time to rest, reflect, and create special memories together. We look forward to welcoming students back refreshed and ready for the second half of the year.

Wishing you and your family a safe, joyful, and restful holiday season.

Sincerely,
Ty Crain

Superintendent

As the holiday season approaches, the Board of Education would like to take a moment to thank the families of Fulton Public Schools for the important role you play in our shared school community.

Your involvement, support, and trust are essential to the success of our students, our schools, and our academic pursuits. When families and schools work together, students are better supported, more engaged, and better positioned to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

We are grateful for the many ways families contribute each day, from encouraging learning at home to staying connected with teachers, staff, and school activities. That partnership strengthens our schools and helps create an environment where students feel supported, challenged, and inspired to do their best work.

As we look ahead to the new year, we are excited to welcome well-rested students back after the break. Their energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm are what bring our classrooms and hallways to life, and we look forward to continuing their learning journey together.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership and your commitment to our schools. We are proud of the strong sense of community that connects families, educators, and staff across the district, and we remain focused on providing a safe, supportive, and nurturing educational experience for every student.

We wish you and your loved ones a joyful and restful holiday season and look forward to continuing our work together in the year ahead.

With appreciation,

Board of Education

Homeless & Foster Care Liaison Homeless & Foster Care Liaison

Dr. Daniel Rector, Executive Director of Student Services, serves as Fulton Public Schools' local liaison for the McKinney-Vento Act (Homeless) and Foster Care. Each year, we aim to ensure that families and staff are aware of these roles, their purpose, and the resources available to eligible students.

McKinney-Vento Act (Homeless) Liaison

Under the McKinney-Vento Act, every school district is required to designate a liaison to support students who may be experiencing housing instability (homeless children and youth). The local liaison coordinates services to ensure that impacted students do not experience barriers to enrolling in school and have the opportunity to succeed academically. While not comprehensive, the following list outlines some of the key responsibilities of this role:

  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that school personnel identify homeless children and youth.
  • Supporting homeless children and youth in enrolling in school and having full and equal opportunity to succeed.
  • Coordinating with social service agencies to refer impacted students to receive health care, dental services, mental health and substance abuse, housing, and other appropriate services.
  • Informing parents and guardians of their student's options and rights.
  • Mediating enrollment disputes for eligible students in accordance with law.
  • Informing about and assisting with transportation arrangements.
  • Informing unaccompanied youth (about enrollment options and assisting them in enrollment.

More information about the role and responsibilities of the McKinney-Vento Act (Homeless) Liaison can be found on our district website, in board policy IGBCA (Programs for Homeless Students), and from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Foster Care Liaison

Under federal law, every school district must designate a point of contact (liaison) to support students in foster care. While not comprehensive, the following list outlines some of the key responsibilities of this role:

  • Collaborating with child welfare agencies to support the educational interests of students in foster care.
  • Participating in best interest determination meetings to determine educational placement for students in foster care.
  • Supporting students in foster care in enrolling in school and having full and equal opportunity to succeed.
  • Arranging for transportation for students in foster care.

More information about the role and responsibilities of the Foster Care Liaison can be found on our district website, in board policy IGBE (Students in Foster Care), and from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

School Violence Tip Line School Violence Tip Line

You may have noticed a new School Violence Tip Line link on our Fulton58 website under the Resources tab. This is an anonymous tip line linked to the Missouri Highway Patrol's Courage2Report Missouri. To prevent school violence, they offer three ways to anonymously report a concern. When a tip is submitted it immediately goes to law enforcement and notifies the school administrators. Please take the time to watch the video below, and to read the Student and Parent Frequently Asked Questions.
