Dear La Escuela Fratney Families and Staff,

Welcome to our weekly Monday Message! This is Ms. Sara, your school principal. We hope you enjoyed a safe, restful, and warm long weekend. We are so excited to welcome our students and staff back to school tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27.

We have just four days of learning left in January, and we are ready to make every day count! This Friday, many of our classes and grade levels will proudly present their learning connected to being bilingual, multicultural learners. Presentations will take place at 10:00 a.m. and 2:45 p.m., and families are welcome to attend the time that works best for them. Please note that doors will open five minutes before each presentation.

Also this Friday, we will be hosting our Math Family Night! We hope you can join us to learn about math instruction and enjoy playing new math games with your child. It will be a fun and engaging evening for our whole community.

As we approach February, we want to remind everyone how important daily, on-time attendance is. Showing up every day is one of the best ways to show love for our school community. We truly love seeing our students and staff at school each day — every day counts!

February is also Kindergarten Enrollment Month for the upcoming school year. If you have a 3- or 4-year-old, now is the time to enroll. Please remember that students who are already enrolled at La Escuela Fratney will remain enrolled for next school year.

¡Bienvenidos a nuestro Mensaje Semanal del Lunes! Les habla la directora de la escuela, Ms. Sara. Esperamos que hayan disfrutado de un fin de semana largo, seguro, cálido y reparador. Estamos muy emocionados de dar la bienvenida nuevamente a nuestros estudiantes y personal mañana, martes 27 de enero.

Nos quedan solo cuatro días de aprendizaje en el mes de enero, ¡y estamos listos para aprovechar cada uno al máximo! Este viernes, muchas de nuestras clases y niveles de grado presentarán con orgullo su aprendizaje, el cual está conectado con ser estudiantes bilingües y multiculturales. Las presentaciones se llevarán a cabo a las 10:00 a.m. y a las 2:45 p.m., y las familias pueden asistir en el horario que mejor les funcione. Por favor tengan en cuenta que las puertas se abrirán cinco minutos antes de cada presentación.

También este viernes celebraremos nuestra Noche Familiar de Matemáticas. Esperamos que puedan acompañarnos para aprender más sobre la enseñanza de matemáticas y disfrutar jugando nuevos juegos matemáticos con sus hijos e hijas. Será una noche divertida y participativa para toda nuestra comunidad escolar.

A medida que nos acercamos al mes de febrero, queremos recordarles lo importante que es la asistencia diaria y puntual. Asistir a la escuela todos los días es una de las mejores maneras de demostrar amor y compromiso con nuestra comunidad escolar. Nos encanta ver a nuestros estudiantes y personal en la escuela todos los días — ¡cada día cuenta!

Febrero también es el Mes de Inscripción para Kindergarten para el próximo año escolar. Si tienen un niño o niña de 3 o 4 años, ahora es el momento de inscribirlos. Les recordamos que todos los estudiantes que ya están inscritos en La Escuela Fratney permanecerán inscritos para el próximo año escolar.

Are you interested in volunteering at La Escuela Fratney? We welcome volunteers to support with arrival, lunch, and recess times. Per our school policy, families are not able to volunteer in their own child's classroom on an ongoing basis. If you are interested in volunteering in classrooms, it must be a different classroom and be organized and approved through the parent coordinator Ms. Grace.

Here is the paragraph from the MPS Family manual that describes the volunteer process:

Family Volunteers

Persons interested in volunteering are encouraged to follow the appropriate volunteer application process defined by the district. MPS defines a volunteer as a person who provides services on an ongoing or one-time basis. Persons looking to serve on an ongoing basis or for more than five hours a week or for an overnight field trip must complete an online volunteer application, pass a criminal background check (for those 18 years of age or older), and receive a volunteer assignment by the school administrator or parent coordinator. Persons looking to participate in a daytime field trip or other one-time activity must complete a volunteer waiver form. The online volunteer application and the volunteer waiver form are available on the MPS website under the Families tab > Volunteer.

There will be one calendar for the whole district again this year. Please review this calendar before making plans for trips or vacations. Students must be in school 95% of the time or more which means they can only miss 1 day a month the whole school year. Students who miss more than 10 days of school a year fall behind academically and socially. Make a plan now to be in school every day on time.
