OES Chief Chatter April 2026

A Note From Ms. Fisher A Note From Ms. Fisher

I am pleased to share that Melissa Van Lith will be joining Osceola Elementary as our new Assistant Principal beginning in July. Ms. Van Lith most recently served at Estates Elementary and brings 10 years of administrative experience across both Title I and non-Title I schools. With more than 25 years in education, including experience in ESE, she brings a wealth of knowledge and a strong commitment to student success.

Ms. Van Lith is passionate about building meaningful, positive relationships with students, staff, and families, and she looks forward to becoming an integral part of the Osceola community. Outside of school, she enjoys traveling and is the proud parent of a soon-to-be senior at Gulf Coast High School.

Please join me in extending a warm welcome as we look forward to her leadership and contributions to our school.

As we enter the final weeks of the school year and students continue to demonstrate their learning through PM3 testing, we encourage you to support them by ensuring they get plenty of rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and remain focused each day. We are incredibly proud of all of our Chiefs!

🍴Important Update: Changes to Student Meal Account Funding 🍴Important Update: Changes to Student Meal Account Funding

This message is to inform you of an update to Nutrition Services’ meal account funding practices.

As of Monday, April 20, Nutrition Services will no longer be able to continue funding meals for students who have repeatedly utilized lunch accounts without available balances. While Nutrition Services has supported students in these situations throughout the school year, the need to ensure long-term financial sustainability makes this approach no longer feasible.

Effective April 20, students without available funds on their meal accounts, as well as students at schools without an established principal account, will not be provided a lunch meal.

Families have been notified of this change in advance to allow time for alternative arrangements to be made.

Please note: Elementary aged students do have the ability to charge up to 5 meals ($13.75) before losing purchasing abilities.

To ensure your child does not miss a meal, please take a moment to:

  • Check your child’s meal account balance regularly
  • Add funds to your child’s account prior to April 20
  • Set up low-balance alerts, if available through your school’s payment system
  • Send your child to school with a packed lunch if needed

If your family may need assistance, we encourage you to complete a free or reduced-price meal application, if you have not already done so, as your child may qualify for support. Please also reach out to your school’s front office if you need help accessing your child’s account or have questions about available resources.

Thank you for your attention to this important update and for helping ensure your child has access to lunch each day.

Our fabulous 5th graders took a field trip to Pine Ridge Middle School (PRMS). They couldn't wait to get off the bus. Students had a blast visiting their future middle school and taking it all in.

Some former OES Chiefs welcomed them when they arrived. Remember, once a chief, ALWAYS a chief! Take a look!
