Reminders/ Updates

Save the date: Incoming Kindergarten Registration SY23-24 : This will be taking place on Tuesday, January 24th, and Wednesday, January 25th from 9:00AM-6:00PM in the Central Office Conference Room. Information on scheduling a 15-minute appointment time will be shared on the CPS website the week of January 3rd. Those parents who can’t make either date can walk-in at their convenience after January 25 at Central Office between 8AM-4PM. We wanted to share this information as a save-the-date for now.

A Note from Mrs. Cooper in the music room:

I have been using a Slide Whistle for years to help the students warm up their voices. This year, students are very excited and asking a lot of questions on where to get one. IF your student is asking you for a slide whistle, I am recommending that you get it at a music store (such as University Music in Lowell - I just called, they are $4.95 ) or a music website (such as WestMusic.com or MusiciansFriend.com). Some students have been coming back with toys instead of instruments and are disappointed they don’t work right or are breaking fast. Please note, this is NOT a requirement for class. I am not telling families they have to purchase one. This is just a friendly reminder that if you are going to let your student get one for your house, please try to get it from a music company, not Dollar Tree, Target, or Walmart. Please let me know if you have any questions. 😁

December Kind Act - Wish Project

Recently The Wish Project has been struggling to keep items in stock as they have been getting more people in need of their basic supplies every day (currently they are helping between 30 to 40 families a day). The South Row community is getting behind The Wish Project work as we will be collecting these much needed items throughout the month of December:

  • deodorant for men and women
  • body wash for children
  • full size shampoo for adults and children
  • full size toothpaste and toothbrushes for adults and children
  • diaper cream
  • hand soap
  • dish soap
  • dish sponges

These donations are not expected but they are certainly appreciated. Thank you for spreading kindness throughout our community.

Nurses Corner

Dear South Row Families,

We have seen several positive flu cases since returning from Thanksgiving break. If your student is sick with fever, cough, vomiting, diarrhea, or muscle aches- I recommend a home covid test to rule that out followed by a call to their pediatrician to check in.

Returning to school after illness:

If a student has a fever (temperature of 100.0 or higher), they must be fever-free for 24 hours before they can return to school.

If a student has unexplained vomiting or diarrhea (not due to chronic disease), they must be symptom-free for 24 hours before returning to school.

Guidelines for returning to school after illness can be found here.

The full Covid Protocol can be found here.

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions.

Warmly,

Nurse V.

PTO Corner

We've had some questions about the Holiday Shop and wanted to let everyone know this will NOT be happening this year. If this is something that you would like to help coordinate for next year please reach out to us.

We will be celebrating a whole week of wintery fun January 23-27. Students will participate in winter-themed activities in their specialist classes all week long. This community-building whole school event can only take place with your help! Look for a volunteer sign-up to come. We hope you can join us to help make this SNOW much fun! ❄️

Thank you to all who sent in payments for the 4th grade activities. Be watching for more updates again in January.
