Coaches Message
Greenville Splash is ready for an epic year! We have two big community service events coming up. One is the Greenville Splash Volunteer Night at the Age Group State Champs at GCAC. Come and help us be a timer on Feb 15 from 5-7:30 pm. Our other big event is our Annual Greenville Splash Adult Learn to Swim program. We provide free swim lessons to our community, this will be on Tuesday evenings in April from 7-8 pm at GCAC. Let Coach Leslie know if you would like to be a part of this rewarding experience by being a volunteer instructor.
2026 brings United States Master Swimming Spring Nationals to Greensboro, North Carolina. Since it is so close to our area we are looking forward to our swimmers showing off their skills. Let us know if you are planning to attend.
Read More if You are Thinking About Going to Nationals:
After an overwhelming amount of interest, a team was created for South Carolina. Swimmers can join South Carolina Current in order to do relays at Nationals. There is no cost or penalty to change teams for this event. After this event, you can switch back to your normal teams through the same method.
New Team: South Carolina Current, SCC
How to: Login to USMS and go to “My Account”. In the Dashboard there is a section
labeled “Transfer My Membership”, Select South Carolina for LMSC and Select South
Carolina Current under Club.
Next: After you have changed your club, register for Nationals as normal. Price Increase
is February 18th! If you have already signed up for the meet, please email
events@usmastersswimming.org as soon as possible to make that change.
RELAY INTEREST: When signing up for the meet, please put down which relays you are
interested in as well as your split times. This will assist us greatly with creating relays
that are in everyone’s best interest.
IF YOU WANT TO BE ON A RELAY, please complete the google form with your
information so you can join the communication list. Click here:
*Please note that registering under SC Current as your team, any individual or relay records that
are broken will appear with your name and the SC Current team name.*
*If you are swimming in the Charlotte meet or registering for both Myrtle Beach and Nationals, you might want to consider switching your club after the Myrtle Beach Meet.*
Send Leslie results and pictures of your events for our next newsletter. Feel free to email Coach Leslie at greenvillesplash@gmail.com or give me a call if you need any help with anything: 864-283-1328.

Splashing Accomplishments
Furman alumni swimmers were honored at a recent reunion. Can you believe we have 5 swimmers that swam on the Furman team and now continue to swim with Greenville Splash? We are super proud of Patrick Bridges, Lelia Reynolds, Chris Gibbs, Mark Kothe and Janice Hebel!
We are super excited to have these swimmers complete their certification to become Adult Learn to Swim Instructors: Alec DiBattista, Janine Serell and Alyssa Berry . They completed their training recently in Augusta, Georgia with USMS.
Congratulations to our swimmers that swam at the South Carolina Short Course Meters Meet in December in Charleston: Susan DeMere, Daniel Dietrich, Jeff Dietrich, Barbara Eisele, Charles Michael, Joe Shake, William Tarr and Molly Marrett. Way to go Barbara! Barbara Eisele broke the National USMS Record for the 200 IM in the 95-99 age group for short course meters at this meet. She had previously set this record in yards last fall.
Kudos to Celeste Schultz for competing in the Athens swim meet in December. She improved her times in the 50 fly, 50 breast, 50 free and 100 breast.
Welcome Coach Noah Cignarele as one of our evening coaches at Greenville County Aquatic Complex. Congratulations on becoming a Level 1 Certified USMS Coach! Noah will be coaching on Tuesday evenings 6:30-8:00 pm. Come out and give one of his workouts a try!
We are beyond proud of Steve Leitch! Steve completed the Cook's Straight Open Water Swim in New Zealand in December The Cook Strait swim is a challenging marathon swim across the treacherous, cold, and current-filled channel between New Zealand's North and South Islands, considered one of the world's toughest open-water swims and part of the Oceans Seven. Swimmers face strong tides, unpredictable eddies, marine life like jellyfish and sharks, and chilly water. Steve is on a quest to complete the Ocean's Seven. He has finished 5 of the swims! The Oceans Sevens is a marathon swimming challenge consisting of seven open water channel swims. It was devised in 2008 as the swimming equivalent of the Seven Summits mountaineering challenge. It comprises the North Channel, the Cook Straight, the Moloka'i Channel, the English Channel, the Catalina Channel, the Tsugaru Straight and the Strait of Gibraltar. He does the swims to raise awareness and money for those that are overcoming addiction.

A Blast from the Past: 2017 Snowing During Workout!
Swimming
Swimming is movement that heals from the inside out.
Swimming doesn’t just strengthen your body it reshapes your brain.
Studies show it boosts memory by increasing blood flow to the hippocampus (the brain’s memory center), helps regulate the nervous system, and even improves the depth and quality of your sleep.
The rhythmic motion.
The deep breathing.
The weightlessness in water.
It all sends signals to your brain: you’re safe, you’re present, you can rest.
And unlike many workouts, swimming stimulates both brain hemispheres, supporting neural growth, mood balance, and long-term brain health.
Because sometimes the fastest way to reset your mind…
is to float.
