🐾 A Note From the Principal: My Purpose and Passion💙
Dear Booker Families,
Dear Booker Families,
First and foremost, I give thanks for all of you. As we enter this season of gratitude, I am reminded each day how fortunate we are to have such committed families, resilient scholars, and a community that works hand-in-hand with us to Get Booker Better, Faster. Your partnership means everything.
We now have 15 school days left until Winter Break, and our Middle of the Year (MOY) testing begins next week. This is a crucial moment for our scholars to show their growth and for us to help them finish this semester strong.
📚 Every Day Counts. Every Minute Matters.
As we prepare for MOY testing, your support makes a tremendous difference. Please help us by ensuring:
-
Daily attendance, on time and ready to learn
-
Limited early pick-ups, especially during core instruction
-
Rested, focused scholars prepared to do their best each day
These next few days matter more than ever—one missed hour can mean a missed skill, and every skill builds toward success.
💙 Gratitude for Our Bengals and Their Families
I am truly grateful for each scholar who walks our halls, each family who supports our mission, and each act of kindness, patience, and encouragement you offer your children and our staff.
Thank you for believing in our work, trusting our leadership, and standing with us every step of the way.
🐾 Let’s Finish This Semester Strong!
Together, we will ensure our Bengals approach MOY testing with confidence, pride, and a growth mindset. Let’s make each of these final 15 days count.
With gratitude and Bengal pride,
Principal Womack
💙 Striving for Excellence — Every Day, Every Lesson, Every Bengal.
We need all of our Bengals back for some HOLIDAY FUN Monday, December 1st
Making December the happiest time of the year!
MOY Testing starts next week!
Subject: Upcoming Middle-of-the-Year Assessments (Pre-K – 5th Grade) FA
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Beginning December 1, 2025, students in Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade will participate in the district’s Middle-of-the-Year (MOY) assessments. These tests help gauge student progress on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and allow teachers to better support your child’s learning through targeted instruction, reteach, and intervention. All assessments will be administered online, and the testing window will run from December 1–5, 2025. Specific testing dates will vary by grade level and subject area.
Assessment Schedule by Grade Level:
● Pre-Kindergarten: CIRCLE Assessments
● Kindergarten – 2nd Grade: mCLASS/Lectura (Reading) and NWEA MAP (Math)
● 3rd – 5th Grade: NWEA MAP (Reading and Math)
● 5th Grade Only: NWEA MAP (Science)
Please note that there may be some adjustments to your child’s daily schedule during the testing window to allow sufficient time for assessment completion. If your child receives physical accommodations, please ensure they are available on the day of testing. Digital accommodations are available within the online platform based on individual student needs.
If you have any questions, please contact your campus for more information. Thank you for your continued support in your child’s education.
Kind regards,
Eddie Rodriguez

Tema: Próximas evaluaciones de mitad de año (Pre-K - 5to grado)
Estimados padres y tutores,
- Pre-Kindergarten: Evaluaciones CIRCLE
- Kindergarten – 2do Grado: mCLASS/Lectura (Lectura) y NWEA MAP (Matemáticas)
- 3º – 5º grado: NWEA MAP (Lectura y Matemáticas)
- Solo 5to grado: NWEA MAP (Ciencias)
Si tiene alguna pregunta, comuníquese con su escuela para obtener más información. Gracias por su continuo apoyo en la educación de su hijo.
ATTENTION PARENTS: PLEASE READ! WE NEED YOUR HELP!
STATE LAW - HELP US HELP YOUR CHILD WHILE AT SCHOOL!
In accordance with Senate Bill 12 (SB 12), parents now must opt in to allowing their child to be seen in the school clinic during the school day.
Please note that if you do not choose to opt in:
Your child may only be seen in the clinic for emergency situations.
Regular or non-emergency visits to the nurse (such as headaches, stomachaches, minor scrapes, or other routine concerns) will not be allowed.
You will be contacted to pick up your child for non-emergency situations.
screenings like eyesight, hearing, and scoliosis can not be performed.
We urge you to carefully consider this decision, as opting out significantly limits our ability to support your child’s health needs during the school day.
Thanks,
Nurse Hughes

Mindset of Mastery – No Mediocre Thinking Allowed
As we move through our mid-year testing, I want to focus on one thing—the Mindset of Mastery.
💭 Mastery Over Mediocre
At Booker, “good enough” is no longer enough. Our Bengals deserve excellence, not excuses. We are pushing every scholar to move from approaching to meeting and mastering grade-level expectations—aiming higher, trying harder, and beating their own best every day.
📖 Mastery Starts at Home
You can help by reinforcing high expectations:
• Read daily and ask questions
• Review math facts
• Encourage full-sentence responses
• Limit screen time and talk about learning
Ask your child:
“What did you master today?”
“What are you still working on?”
💪 We Can and We Will
Changing a campus begins with changing mindsets. When students, staff, and families believe mastery is possible, success always follows.
