NBHS Updates

Pretzels are getting ready for Spring!

Spanish II Fashion Show: Spanish II students performed their fashion shows last week. Students had to serve as announcers and as models. They described their group members' clothing, how much each item costs, and where one can buy it. They did a great job and picked interesting themes this year.

Thursday March 6: We hosted the IASA Annual Division Meeting and some of our Key Club Members helped out to give tours of our new building!

Prairieland Honor Band We had 21 students perform with 6 other schools in the area at Riverton High School for Prairieland Honor Band on March 6th. Students rehearsed all day and performed that night. Multiple Pretzel performers were recognized with Senior Jake Cowman having a solo within the Concert Band, Senior Audrey Attig doing a vocal solo with the Jazz Band and Senior Conlin Stapleton winning Outstanding Brass Player. On Saturday March 8th, students traveled to Porta High School to participate in IHSA Solo and Ensemble. Out of the 13 performances we had, 11 of them got the highest rating available (Division I Excellent), 2 of those Division I performances got perfect scores and one of the perfect scores got Best of Day; which is the highest honor a judge can give to a performer within S+E. These students have been working hard over the last month and a half to prepare! Isaac placed 4th and Hayden 8th! We are so proud of you both!
*Adi competed in the Extemporaneous Speaking Event where she got 30 minutes to prepare a 4-6 minute speech on a topic she picked tonight. She placed 8th tonight! Congratulations Adi!

Mrs. McClarey's Fashion and Clothing Construction class went on our annual field trip this past week. We purchased clothing items from Goodwill that will be redesigned into new items for the final exam project. Students also purchase items from JoAnn to use in class projects. Students got experience asking staff for assistance and having bolts of fabric cut to needed size.

New This Week!

The New Berlin High School Spanish Dual Credit classes had the opportunity to go on a field trip to see two unforgettable and culturally rich performances in Decatur on Friday, March 14th at the Decatur Civic Center. Both shows, the Latin Iberian Show and Fusion Latino Flamenco, explored the culture and history of music and dance from Latin America and Spain. Both shows allowed students to participate at the end. The students really enjoyed the trip!

Ms. Kennedy's Spanish III and IV students taught Ms. Burke's 6th grade class yesterday. Spanish III taught about March madness, and Spanish IV taught about Saint Patrick's Day and why it's celebrated in Mexico. They both created engaging lessons. The 6th grade students had a great time learning a little español.

often do not know where to begin.

211 call centers are staffed by trained specialists who quickly assess the callers’ needs and

refer them to the help they seek. It’s simple to remember, accessible to everyone, toll-free,

available 24/7, with multilingual capabilities.

211 in Sangamon and Menard County is funded by United Way of Central Illinois. By bringing

this service to the community, especially at a time when more individuals and families need
