We are pleased to announce the 23rd annual “Why I Want to Be a Nurse” essay contest. The contest is open to all South Dakota 5th graders. Nursing is a challenging career which provides many different opportunities for practice. The need for nurses continues to grow. The SDSU College of Nursing wants to provide an opportunity for students in South Dakota to begin thinking about a career in nursing and practice their writing skills. We would love if you could help share this information with your 5th grade teachers, students, and parents. Please see the attachment for more information regarding this Essay Contest.

Essays must be submitted by April 12, 2024, to Amanda.Larson@sdstate.edu. A student information sheet/parent permission form will need to be filled out for each participant.
