Reminder Spring Concert and Art Show: June 3rd at 5:00pm
Principal's Message
We are quickly closing in on the last days of the 2025-2026 school year. We have nine and a half days left but who's counting? Over the next two weeks students will be engaged in a variety of learning activities, projects and celebrations. The days are going to speed by!
Quite possibly one of my favorite events of the year is coming up; Knight School. Teachers and staff members will be offering students a selection of activities based on topics that interest them. Our most popular offerings each year remain Ag School hosted by Harkdale Farm and Fishing lead by Sim Cook. Knight School is Monday June 8th-Wednesday June 10th, be on the lookout for information from your child's teacher about what they are doing each day. As a reminder some activities like biking, fishing and canoeing take place off campus.
I'd like to send a big thank you out to Laurie Williams who organized our special year of the book event on Friday May 29th. At the beginning of the year students set a goal of reading 500 books to earn a special event. Students and staff members surpassed that goal reading some 1000 books! As a reward Laurie and the Year of the Book committee planned a treasure hunt in the non fiction forest and fiction inflatables on the Common. The Common was turned into a carnival for a day! Through the use of grant money this fun event was fully funded. Students and staff had a wonderful day of learning and fun!
As many of you know the OUUSD budget did not pass for next school year. I encourage you to come to the informational session on June 15th at Oxbow to learn about changes and the potential of a buy down by the state. It will be important to know about how additional changes to the budget and the buy down will affect your taxes for the coming year.
~Loretta
PS: We are excited for kindergarten teacher Cassi Harmonay to return on Monday June 1st!

Bug & Insect Safety Reminder
As students spend more time outdoors during the warmer months, we would like to remind families about bug and insect safety.
Please help your child stay safe by:
- Using child-safe insect repellent when appropriate
- Wearing sneakers and avoiding tall grass when possible
- Checking for ticks after outdoor activities
- Wearing light-colored clothing to help spot ticks more easily
Ticks are very common during the spring and summer months. Please check your child carefully after spending time outside, especially around:
- Hairline and scalp
- Behind ears
- Under arms
- Waistband area
- Behind knees
Please remind children:
- Not to touch or pick up insects
- To tell an adult if they find a tick or get stung/bitten
- To avoid disturbing bee nests, anthills, or other insect habitats
Thank you for helping to keep our students safe and healthy while they enjoy the outdoors!
Sun Safety Reminder
As the weather gets warmer and students spend more time outdoors, we would like to remind families about the importance of sun safety.
Please help your child stay protected by:
- Applying sunscreen before school
- Bringing a hat or sunglasses for outdoor activities
- Wearing lightweight clothing that covers the skin
- Bringing a water bottle to stay hydrated
Even on cloudy days, the sun’s rays can still cause sunburns. Teaching children healthy sun safety habits now can help protect their skin for years to come.
