Howdy Bronco Family! STAAR testing begins next week for our 3rd-5th graders. I know these students have been working so hard. Their teachers prepared them with awesome activities and lessons since August 13th. There is not a doubt in my mind that each student will to their absolute best on all their tests.

I’m going to get real here. Do I want the students to knock the STAAR out of the park? Sure. But, I want the students and parents to know that a specific test given on one specific day of the school year does NOT determine the worth of any student! The state doesn’t see the amazing accomplishments and growth students achieve all the other days of the year. They don’t see creativity and all the thinking outside the box our students do in class. They can’t see the excitement and engagement in the lessons our fantastic teachers design. They can’t see the amazing growth our struggling students make all year. All our students in the Elementary, your child, is so much more than a test score. They are creators, artists, writers, mathematicians, history buffs, athletes, future CEOs. They have wonderful ideas, imaginations, thoughts. They are respectful, thoughtful, helpful, kind. THEY ALL ARE JUST AMAZING!

Remember, you can always find the latest Meadow ISD news on the MISD website and Facebook page, so go check them out! Also, check your kiddo’s backpack and folders for any important paper notes that may have gone home.

Don’t forget to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about what is going on in the classroom. We are always here to help.

It’s ALWAYS great to be a Bronco!

Mrs. B

¡Hola, Familia Bronco!

Super second graders!

The school year is winding down but there is still so much learning left to do! Please help keep your kiddo excited for school and ensure they are here every day, we have some fun stuff coming up!

We should still be reading every night and taking tests. This is the final opportunity for our class to reach their individual AR goals for the year!

In class we are currently working on the RACES strategy to help us use text evidence to answer questions, we've begun learning how to type which will help us so much next year. In math we are currently working on fractions and in science we are getting into food webs as well as identifying the differences between producers and consumers.

Thank you for all you do!

Mrs.Alaniz

Sra. Vocabulary:

This week we are on week 6 of our Vocabu-Lit Lessons. Please help your child study the definitions ready for a test on Friday.

Reading/Language:

We are reviewing and practicing this week ready for the Reading/language STAAR Test next Tuesday (April 8th), so nothing new is being introduced this week. It is really important that students are here every day this week in order to be prepared for next week's test. We are working through on-line released STAAR test questions so students can see exactly what to expect next week. They are ready for this!! Please encourage your child to rest well over the weekend and get them to school bright and early on Tuesday morning. Arriving late on a testing day can be very stressful for students. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.

Mrs. McCormick

Next week 4th and 5th graders will be taking the Reading portion of the STAAR test. The students have been working really hard all year, and I am excited for them to show what they know. Testing can be very stressful, but it doesn't have to be. With a lot of encouragement and support at home, I feel the students will be successful. Below are some things you can do to help your child put their best foot forward. I know this is a 3-day weekend, and a lot of kids get off their sleep schedules. Please help out by making sure your child gets a good night's sleep each night between now and next Tuesday.

Fabulous 4th Grade & Marvelous 5th Grade MATH

-In both grade levels we took a benchmark test before Spring Break to see what we would need to review for the STAAR test. I had not been able to look at last year’s STAAR test till just recently and the questions are very challenging especially in 4th grade.

-I need my 4th and 5th grade to be in class every day. We are reviewing different math every day and the test has moved up a week earlier than last year.

Please send your student to school every day.

-I need students to keep on working on their multiplication math facts if they are having trouble with their math facts. This is a skill that they will take throughout their learning.

Thank you for your support.

Stacy Gamez

Stacy Gamez
