During the brief program, special acknowledgment was given to School & Community Liaison Sheila Blythe who recently received the Black Voices of the Valley “It Takes a Village” award. Student “scientists” across the district researched how long gum retained its flavor, glucose levels in drinks, how aging affects reaction speeds, the best flour to use when baking cookies, the effect of different liquids on plants and many other topics and then created project boards and props to share their findings. Winning projects competed at the RCOE Science and Engineering Fair on March 2. Congratulations to all of our competitors! Special recognition to SJLA student Michael Serrano -- a gold medal winner for his "The Flight of a Fletching" project who now advances to the California State Science and Engineering Fair and the Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge!
