2nd Grade Newsletter
December 15 - 19
Hello 2nd Grade Families,
We had another wonderful week with your amazing kids! We loved seeing everyone participate in our December to Remember dress-up days. Your children brought so much joy and school spirit each day!
🌟 Math
This week, we finished our work on telling time and continued reviewing measurement concepts, as well as 2D and 3D shapes. Students practiced identifying shapes in real life and used math vocabulary to describe their attributes. Ask your child to point out some shapes around your home!
📚 ELAR (English Language Arts & Reading)
We began turning our state research into presentations! Students are learning how to take the information they gathered and organize it into a clear, engaging presentation. They are becoming confident researchers and creative communicators. Have them share a fun fact about their state!
🗺️ Social Studies
In social studies, we explored how to use maps to locate the world’s oceans and continents. Students are learning important map-reading skills and gaining a better understanding of how our world is organized.
🔭 Science
This week in science, we learned about telescopes and how they help us observe objects in the sky. Students were excited to explore how these tools allow scientists to study stars, planets, and other celestial objects far away from Earth.

📣 Announcements
If you are dropping off your child’s lunch, please make sure to bring it NO LATER than 12:00 PM.
We truly appreciate your help in making sure every child has a stress-free and smooth lunchtime. Thank you for your cooperation and support!
- Please make sure your child is not bringing any toys to school. Several students are taking their Labubus off their backpacks and playing with them throughout the day or taking them to Specials. These items need to be left at home. Thank you!
- Along with weekly Phonics practice, have your child read something of their choice for 20 minutes a night or 100 minutes for the week. Please see the Take Home Support pictured here for more guidance on At-Home Phonics activities. This paper is also located in each student's purple folder.
- Your student is now expected to type in their own username and password to log in to their chromebook. Log in to Skyward to find their username and password and help them memorize it at home!
- Please be sure to bring a labeled water bottle and healthy snack daily.
- Please check Take Home folders each week for teacher communication regarding classroom behavior and to empty contents.
