FFA makes the Wall of Fame

The Forsyth FFA program was chosen for the Missouri State Fair Wall of Fame. The program was honored after capturing the Forestry State Title three years running and by capturing the National Forestry Title. Students created a 3ft x 6ft plaque that will be on display at the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia, MO.

Forsyth Band prepares for a new school year

Forsyth has a new band director this year, Mr. Philip Thomas. Mr. Thomas has many years of experience teaching music in Arkansas and Missouri.

During the summer, Mr. Thomas and several students enjoyed a trip to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, where they watched the Drum Corps International competition and got inspiration of their own to bring back for band camp. Mr. Thomas said the trip and camps have shown him there are some great student leaders and excellent musicians at Forsyth.

Band camp wrapped up on Friday evening, August 5, with a demonstration for families and friends highlighting a portion of the fall marching show, a compilation of patriotic music.

National Forestry Team

Pictured is the Forsyth Forestry Team who took a week during summer vacation to travel to the east coast preparing for the national competition. Ten states in four days, many miles hiked, and a lot learned! They visited the Dupont State Forrest, Sewee Educational Forrest, and even found time to visit the Biltmore Mansion in Ashville, NC. A big thanks to FFA sponsor Clint Gailey and his wife Hannah Gailey for their time and effort with these awesome students. Team members include Aaron Gross, Kenzie Calhoun, McKenna Carter, and Madilynn Cook.

Boys Basketball Summer Trip

The Forsyth panther varsity basketball team took a summer trip to Pensacola, Florida. During the trip the team played schools from around the nation and were treated to some beach time.

This was a great experience allowing the boys the opportunity to build their relationships on and off of the basketball floor as they grow and develop into young men.

Forsyth FBLA Competes at Nationals

FBLA sponsor Samantha Gailey and members Vinny Estes, Olivia Williams, and Ayanna Burdi attended the National Leadership Conference in Chicago this summer. Vinny competed in Introduction to Information Technology and Olivia and Ayanna competed in the team event Introduction to Event Planning. They went up against over 80 competitors from across the nation in both events and while they came up short of placing in the top 10 it was a great learning experience. They attended workshops, a college fair with schools from across the country, and got to see some of the great things the city has to offer!
