Temple Athletics Newsletter
From The Nest
Edition 14: March 14, 2023
I want to open with the news that Men’s Basketball Coach Aaron McKie and I met Monday, and it was mutually agreed that he will not return as the head men's basketball coach for the 2023-24 season. He will transition into a new role as a special advisor to the Director of Athletics. I am thankful for his continued support and passion for Temple University. He has been a highly decorated student-athlete, committed alumnus, husband, father, and a dedicated coach for Temple these past nine seasons, both as an assistant and head coach. Every step of the way Aaron has represented the University and the program in the finest manner. We are extremely grateful for his long-standing service to Temple and the men's basketball program.
TEMPLE TOAST
Temple Athletics will once again participate in Temple Toast, a university-wide, 24-hour campaign to unite the Temple community through a philanthropic celebration. Temple Toast is a great opportunity to celebrate the impact our Temple Owls have on the University and the greater Philadelphia community. On March 27, alumni, fans, parents and friends are invited to make a gift to support an area of Temple Athletics they care most about. OWLS TAKE ON ROME
30 UNDER 30
Congratulations to two of our alums, Dion Dawkins CLA ‘17 and Brandon Matthews EDU ‘16, on being recognized by the University as part of this year’s 30 Under 30. Both of these fine young men are representing Temple well in the professional ranks with Dion earning all-Pro honors in each of the last two seasons and Brandon currently playing on the PGA Tour.
RESNICK RECOGNITION
At our men’s basketball game against UCF we honored and thanked Nancy and Donald Resnick, as the Resnick Academic Support Center for Student-Athletes celebrates its 10 year anniversary this year. The Resnick Center has a reputation of excellence and has served thousands of Temple student-athletes in the last decade. Truly would not be possible without the generosity of Nancy and Donald. We thank them for their generous support and commitment to Temple Athletics and to our student-athletes.
