Memorial Day Observance
Just a quick friendly reminder about Memorial Day coming up. As many of you know, Memorial Day is an important American holiday observed on the last Monday of May. It's a special time set aside to honor the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives while serving in the U.S. military.
In observance of this significant day, there will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, May 26th. So, mark your calendars and enjoy your day off! Whether you're spending time with family, having a barbecue, or just relaxing, let's also take a moment to remember and appreciate those who have gone before us. They made the ultimate sacrifice, and their courage and dedication deserve our deepest respect.
Have a great long weekend, everyone!
ACT Results for Juniors

Students to Keep iPads/Hotspots Over the Summer
Message to Families:
Students to Keep iPads/Hotspots Over the Summer
Students will again be keeping their district-issued iPads and hotspots over the summer. This allows learning opportunities to continue throughout the summer. Exceptions include graduating seniors and students unenrolling from District 196. For more details and guidance around this, please visit this website. If you have questions, contact your child’s school or submit at https://www.district196.org/techhelp. Thank you.
196 Fundraiser Kickoff
Show Your Appreciation for District 196 Teachers & Staff
Shower Them with End-of-Year Love & Treats
Every $5 donation to The District 196 Foundation equals one vote. The more you donate, the more votes you cast!
The teachers and staff at each winning school will be showered with treats on Monday, June 2.
Your $5 “vote” will not only show love for your favorite schools, but it will also support the foundation in:
- Distributing 4,000+ bags of food to students each year to access consistent meals on weekends
- Providing age-appropriate summer books for students to help maintain reading levels over the summer
- Ensuring every student who wants to participate in band has the opportunity to do so by helping to refurbish nearly 600 instruments
- Funding school supplies to ensure all students are equipped with the tools to learn
- Filling critical funding gaps for educational programming
Honors Geometry Fun
Our Honors Geometry Students have been working hard the past two weeks on their Tin Foil Projects! This project is an application of their knowledge of surface area. Students build, calculate and cover creative projects in tin foil and they are judged by EHS staff. It's great to see their creativity is shining through their projects.
Drop-off Graduation Yard Signs for Free Recycling
After the party’s over, give your graduation yard sign a second life! Dakota County is hosting a free drop-off recycling collection to keep graduation and other yard signs out of the landfill. Yard signs do not belong in the home recycling cart. The plastic and metal can be made into new products only when collected and recycled separately.
High school seniors and their families are encouraged to drop off rigid corrugated plastic signs and metal stakes from June 1-August 15 at the Dakota County Western Service Center in Apple Valley in the collection bin inside the lobby. Signs will be taken to Choice Plastics, a local plastic recycler in Minnesota. See the Recycling Guide for more information.
Finals Are June 4th and June 5th for grades 9, 10 and 11.
Planning for the End of Spring Trimester
Wednesday, June 5th is our last student day!
All grades 9, 10 and 11 students will have Final Assessments in classes on June 4 and 5. Seniors in good standing are not required to take Finals. Seniors last day is Friday , May 30th.
Teachers will NOT be giving Finals early to grades 9, 10 and 11. If a student is absent on June 4 or 5 the teacher should be informed and will leave the Final Assessment with our Registrar in Counseling. The student would be able to come in during the summer to make up that assessment. Once the teacher returns to grade the work a final grade in the class will be determined.
