Message from the Superintendent

Dear TPS Families and Staff,

As we head into Memorial Day weekend and prepare to close another incredible school year, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to our entire TPS community.

Thank You for Your Support

Your approval of our 2025-2026 school budget at Town Meeting once again demonstrates Tewksbury's commitment to education. These resources ensure we can maintain the high-quality programs and safe environments our children deserve.

Celebrating Our Team

Throughout May, we recognized the incredible educators and staff who make TPS exceptional—from principals and teachers to support staff, nurses, and nutrition team members. Special thanks to all our PACs and volunteers for organizing these appreciation efforts and supporting our schools year-round.

Celebrating Our Hard-Working Students

Our students have shown incredible effort and dedication tackling end-of-year assessments while balancing the exciting celebrations and activities. Their growth and achievements make us all so proud.

Memorial Day Reflection

As we enjoy this long weekend with family and friends, let us remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage preserved the freedoms we cherish today.

Investing in Futures

The recent TPS scholarship and awards ceremony showcased our community's commitment to our TMHS students. Over $190,000 in scholarships awarded to our graduating seniors represents not just financial support, but belief in their bright futures.

Moving Forward

As we enter the final three and a half weeks of school, I'm filled with pride in what we've accomplished together. The strength of our entire TPS partnership continues to be the driver of everything we can achieve.

Thank you for being such an integral part of the TPS family.

Sincerely,

Brenda Theriault-Regan

FY26 Special Education Planning

The Tewksbury Public Schools Special Education department is undergoing a strategic reorganization to better serve all students through improved inclusion practices and streamlined support services. Following a state determination that identified areas for improvement in inclusion practices, the district has been working with DESE throughout the year to develop comprehensive action plans and has successfully moved from "Needs Intervention" status to “Meeting State Requirements.” The proposed restructuring includes five distinct pathways (A through E) that provide a continuum of services from full inclusion to substantially separate programming, with all pathways designed to be fluid and responsive to individual student needs while maximizing opportunities for inclusion in general education settings. This reorganization aims to strengthen Tier 1 and 2 supports, enhance the pre-referral process, and ensure that specialized programming is delivered efficiently across all grade levels PK-12, ultimately supporting the district's commitment that "all kids are our kids" and deserve access to high-quality education in their home community.

The Special Education Department extends its gratitude to the leadership team, case management staff, and related service providers who have been instrumental in this work. We also thank our building-based focus groups composed of general and special education teachers, staff who have attended voluntary meetings at the building level, and our TSEPAC members. All of these stakeholders have collaborated throughout this ongoing process across the past few years to ensure these important updates will benefit all students and families in our community.
