The last few weeks have been very busy!
Fall Festival and Title 1 Family Night! 🥸🤠🤡🤖👽
Our first annual Fall Festival was a blast. We learned a few things and will adjust accordingly for next year. First, 400 cookies was not enough. Second, MORE CANDY! We also have a few ideas for some fun games/activities we will add.
Thank you for coming out and enjoying the festivities with us.
Halloween Parade
Thank you to all parents who came out to support our kiddos for the Halloween Parade. This came as a positive and a negative as dismissal was a little complicated. We would like to propose a change for next year. Rather than holding the parade at the end of the day, we would like to move it to first thing in the morning. Under this format, students would arrive at school with their costumes on or put them on upon arrival. The parade would occur around 9:15, and then students would resume their normal school day. Bus Safety
Our transportation department put on bus safety training for all students in kindergarten and first grade. Even if your child does not take the bus everyday, they will eventually for field trips. These lessons are crucial for all students. We would like to thank Mrs. Papush, Mr. G, Mrs. Jenny, Mrs. Lisa, and Mr. Micheal for all of their hard work.
Veterans' Day Assembly
We are often asked why Post Falls holds school on Veterans' Day while other districts do not. Over the years, we have heard from our local veterans that they would prefer our students be in school learning about the importance of veterans day. Each school must provide instruction in this area on that day. Many of our Post Falls schools choose to hold assemblies as part of that instruction.
All veterans and active military personnel are invited to join us as we honor members of the United States Armed Forces.
Staff Spotlight - Meet the Kindergarten Team!
Cindy De Soto
I have been teaching kindergarten for 9 years in the Post Falls District. I am a grandma of 5, and they are my pride and joy. I am so grateful to have 2 of them at school this year with me. I love to read, float the lakes in our area, and spend time with family.
Anna Wilson
This is my 34th year of teaching, with 24 of those years here in the Post Falls School District. I love my job!! I live on a small ranch in Spokane County. My husband, Scott, and I have two children, Emma and Sam. My family and I all love to compete in rodeos and spend our free time riding and roping.
Raini Cherry
Although new to kindergarten, this is my 18th year of teaching (grades PK-12). Most of my teaching has been in first grade and special ed. This is my 5th year back, after almost 20 years at home raising my 4 kids. My two oldest kids are married. My third child recently graduated from the Univ. of Hawaii and lives in GA. My youngest plays college baseball in Arizona. Faith and family fill my bucket, along with raising chickens and honey bees.
Title 1 Information
Title 1 is a federally funded program in all of our elementary schools in the Post Falls School District. Funding for this program is based on the percentage of students attending each school who qualify for free or reduced lunches. Title 1 provides reading and math support for students who are performing below grade level according to District and/or State benchmarks. Our goal is to help every child become successful in reading and math by providing lessons to reinforce reading/math strategies. Each child's progress is closely monitored to ensure instruction is meeting his/her needs. Students are expected to complete all assigned work and practice these strategies at home each day.
Parents are a vital link for success in school. We encourage parents to build strong parent/school relationship through effective communication, attending school conferences, and assisting at home to develop good study habits. We ask parents to contact their child's teacher(s) with any questions about progress.

November Amira Testing
November Amira testing is scheduled for November 9th-11th. Our students have been working hard this year, and we look forward to seeing how well they do. Growth earners will be announced over the intercom during the week of November 16th.
Our school-wide goal is to have 80% of students proficient or above by May 2027.
Winter Will Be Here Soon.
As the weather changes, we see an increase in lost and found items. When possible, please label hats, gloves, coats, and lunchboxes. These items are frequently in our lost and found. Without labels, many things are never matched to an owner. Unclaimed items are put out during conferences. Any items left after conferences are donated.

Academic Growth Awards
This year, we will be recognizing students who show the most growth on Amira and iReady progress monitoring assessments. Each month, our students take a reading assessment on the Amira platform. iReady math assessments are taken three times per year. One student from each grade level who shows the most growth (not highest score) on these assessments will be recognized during morning announcements. They will also be invited to the office during their recess for an additional prize or treat. Then, during our final awards assembly, one student from each grade level will be recognized for the most growth over the entire year!
