A Note From Ms. Colineri
Dear Franklin Families,
Our entire Franklin staff is back in the building, preparing for a wonderful new school year, and we are so excited to welcome our students back! We hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing summer and is ready for a great year together.
Our first day of school is Tuesday, September 8th. It will be a full school day, including lunch and snack.
Arrival Reminders:
- Adult supervision will begin at 8:05 AM.
- Students may enter the building beginning at 8:15 AM.
- The doors will close at 8:25 AM.
- Students arriving after 8:25 AM should enter through the main entrance independently and do not need to be signed in.
Arrival and dismissal locations will remain the same as last year. Students should line up behind the cone displaying their teacher's name:
- 1st & 2nd Grade: Main entrance doors
- 3rd Grade: Library doors
- 4th Grade: Warwick entrance doors
- 5th Grade: Blacktop doors
If you are new to our car line or would like a refresher, please take a moment to review our morning drop-off procedures that was included in last week's newsletter. When dropping off, please pull all the way forward to the first black post/blue sign. Please remain in the car line until you reach the appropriate stopping point and have your child ready to exit the car promptly. Mrs. Mills, Mr. Story, and I will be outside to welcome students and help everyone get settled into the morning routine.
As a reminder, parking is not permitted on either side of Blackburn Road in front of the school during dismissal.
We will also be making a small change to our family communications this year. The Franklin Front Row will be shared every other week, while any important information that needs to be communicated between newsletters will be sent through Parent Messenger.
We are so excited to begin the 2026–2027 school year and look forward to seeing our Franklin students and families on Tuesday!
Enjoy your Labor Day weekend, and we will see you soon!
Warmly,
Ms. Colineri

*NEW* at FES
In the spirit of fostering independence and promoting responsibility of our students, we would highly encourage parents to limit the dropping off of items (lunch, snack, instrument, homework, Chromebook, etc.).
When dropping off an item for your child, please ring the bell and follow the procedure below upon entering the building:
YMCA/Connection Information
For students in the YMCA and Connection after-school programs who take the bus:
Students will be dismissed to the school's main vestibule entrance. They will wait there along with our aide for their bus to arrive.
For students in the Connection after-school program at FES:
Students will be dismissed directly to the cafeteria, where the program is held.
Franklin School Family Handbook
Please read through the Franklin School Family Handbook 2026-2027 thoroughly as it contains important information you need to know before the first day of school including arrival and dismissal instructions and other general information pertaining to the school. There have been some revisions from prior years so please make sure you have read through the entirety of the handbook.
*The handbook will also be conveniently linked below under "Year-Round Resources" for easy access throughout the school year.

Message from Our FES PTO for *NEW* Franklin Families
Hello and welcome to our new Franklin families!
On behalf of the PTO board, we want to welcome you to our wonderful Franklin community!
This year, we are trying something new: we realized that there are a lot of Franklin traditions and events that new families might not be familiar with, so we plan to periodically send emails with updates and further info to help keep our new families informed. Our hope is that new families won't feel in the dark about schoolwide happenings and can be more involved earlier on.
Some ways to connect and stay informed:
- Make sure you have registered on MTK (Membership Toolkit) so that you receive emails and notifications. Most (if not all) communications and signups happen through MTK.
- Read our weekly PTO emails that will be sent out on Sunday evenings, starting on 9/6/26.
- Read Ms. Colineri's weekly Friday emails.
- Follow us on Instagram and Facebook.
- Reach out to your class parents with questions that come up.
- If you can't find an answer using the above options, reach out to Heidi Novik (VP of Communications) at heschmid@gmail.com.
We look forward to sharing some of our favorite Franklin traditions with you this year, like our Back to School Party, Holiday Shop, school musical, book fair, art in the classroom lessons, Franklin Fair, and many more.
Please join the PTO by paying your dues in MTK! Dues directly support our teachers, students, and school community. In the past, we've paid for new gym mats, murals and beautification projects around the building, new A/V equipment, sunshades and picnic tables for our playground, just to name a few. We appreciate your support and involvement.
Thank you, and again, a huge welcome to you and your family! We are so proud of our Franklin community, and we are so excited for you to experience everything Franklin has to offer!
Sincerely,
The Franklin PTO Board
