Growing an active community of strong minds and kind hearts.

Note from the Principal

Dear HMS families,

A parent in our community recently shared this podcast with me and, after listening to it myself, I wanted to share it with all of you. As a parent I am always looking for tips and encouragement. Should you decide to give this a listen, I hope there is a takeaway for you.

Enjoy your weekend!

Grade 7 Update from the Nurses

Attention Grade Seven Parent/Guardian,

We will be conducting our annual hearing and vision screenings of all grade seven students from Tuesday October 24-Thursday October 26, 2024. If your child wears glasses or contacts, it is important for them to have them at school that day as they will be screened with their corrective eye-wear.

Some students may not pass their initial screenings. They will be re-screened again in two weeks. You will only be contacted if further evaluation of your child is needed.

Please contact me with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Kelly Burke & Julie Thompson

Nature's Classroom

Grade 6 Families,

Your student was given the Nature's Classroom information packet last Friday; hopefully you have received it. We will be hosting a virtual parent information session on Tuesday, September 26 from 6-7pm with the Nature's Classroom, Freedom, NH site director. The link for this event will be sent out on Monday, September 25th. This is an optional meeting to share with you more specific details about the trip; there will also be time for questions. It will be recorded and shared if you are unable to attend. On September 21st, students will participate in a similar meeting with the NC site director which will take place during the school day.

A few reminders:

1. Paperwork is due on September 29th.

2. Payment should be made through MySchoolBucks. Checks will be accepted. Payment is due by October 10th.

3. If you are interested in chaperoning, please return the interest sheet as soon as possible.

Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Ann Benbenek

HMS FUNDRAISER

Our Fall Fundraiser is back! This year we have again partnered with Charleston Wrap, who we think you will find has AMAZING merchandise. Hopkinton Middle School earns a profit on every purchase made that helps us fund student activities throughout the year, including our grade level evening events and field trips.

6th graders have fundraiser packets in their backpacks today! 7th and 8th grade parents who attended last week’s Back to School night should already have a packet. If you did not get one and want one, just have your child ask their homeroom teacher. The packet isn’t necessary to make a purchase, you can find a link to the website below!

We hope you will find this to be a really easy fundraiser. Everything can be ordered online and shipped directly to you! It’s also very easy to register as an HMS seller - which you must do in order for us to earn from your sales.

Follow these easy steps:

  1. Go to registercw.com on either your phone or computer

  2. Enter the HMS code 22361 and your cell phone number.

    1. You will get a text confirming that you want to register. Click on that link to finish your registration.

  3. Enter your child’s homeroom teacher’s last name.

  4. Add a photo if you wish

  5. You can add people directly, OR copy the selling link to send to your friends and family via text or email - or you can shop for yourself!

If you have any questions about the fundraiser or issues registering, please contact Becky Abate at rabate@hopkinton.k12.ma.us.

SEPAC Coffee Hour

Please join Hopkinton SEPAC and Hopkinton Public Library on Tuesday, September 26th 10-11:30am for a Parent and Care Partners Coffee Hour! Connect with other families in special education and learn more about SEPAC. No registration required.

International Family Night - Save the Date

We are happy to invite you to an International Night, an evening of cultural celebration, on Friday, October 20th at Hopkinton Middle School.

Attendees can look forward to an evening of food, music, and connection.

In addition to attending, students and families are also invited to host a table representing the culture of a country to which they have a connection. Your table may present this connection through food, music, and/or art. Interested hosts will be connected with families representing the same country in order to coordinate food and musical performances.

Please complete the short form linked here by Tuesday, September 26th to indicate your interest.

You may contact sixth grade teacher Lauren McDonough with any questions.
