  • This week, we have been focusing on numbers! Depending on your student's grade level and needs, we have been:
    • Number recognition (identifying and tracing)
    • Using number lines to solve addition and subtraction problems
    • adding and subtracting fractions/mixed numbers with like denominators
    • word problems (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and intro into one step equations)
  • In the coming days, we’ll look into adding and subtracting fractions/mixed numbers with unlike denominators. We will also practice working with measurements and review the materials we have learned so far!!

Reading:

  • We have continued focusing on the main idea and story elements, such as characters and authors (who, when, where, when, why).
  • The class has been working on reading comprehension by answering questions about passages.
  • Students are diligently working on their phonics, including vowel teams, digraphs, and diphthongs.
  • Engaging activities like task boxes, pop-its, and videos help students learn their materials.
  • In the coming days, students will be working on sequencing events of a story through charts and the use of transition words.

Life Skills:

  • Students continue to review rules and expectations through videos, songs, dances, and social stories.
  • We are learning about personal space and appropriate ways to ask for and respect others' boundaries.
  • Additionally, we are focusing on kindness and discussing ways to show respect to one another.
  • When we come back from the weekend we will begin our new circle time! We will be focusing on hygiene all month long!! To help them learn and grow in their hygiene skills, we will be singing songs/watching videos and discussing during circle time. During this time we will also have fun task boxes and activities to help grow our understanding ( practicing washing hands, brushing teeth, putting on deodorant etc.)

They have been working so hard the past few weeks!! I cannot wait to see all the things they will accomplish throughout the year!! As we move forward, I look forward to collaborating with you throughout the year!
