TrailBlazer Bulletin April 29-May 3

TrailBlazer Bulletin April 29-May 3
TrailBlazer BulletinApril 29-May 3

Dear Trail Blazer Community Dear Trail Blazer Community

Despite the challenges we have faced last week and this week, we are in good spirits here on the trail as we wrap up the end of the year.

Parents, particularly those of senior students, please be aware that attendance will be taken up until 5/18. As always, parents will be allowed to submit up to 4 parents notes and doctor’s notes as applicable. Students under the 90 percent rule need to be extra mindful of their attendance and should reach out to their assistant principal if they have further questions.

Change to Traditional Lunch

Out of an abundance of caution, to limit student shenanigans and to help accommodate testing logistics we will be switching to Traditional lunch from April 29. Please be sure to plan accordingly, and please encourage your students to continue to make good choices as we wrap up the remainder of the year.

AP Students,

Exams are right around the corner! Please review the exam schedule above for the date and time of your AP exams.

  • Morning testers must arrive by 7:25am; transportation will NOT be provided, and students who arrive late will NOT be allowed to test.

  • Afternoon testers must bring lunch to eat at 11:15, as the cafeteria lines will NOT be open at that time.

  • If you have an afternoon exam and 2nd period at CTEC on the same day, contact Ms. Phillips immediately.

  • If you are taking AP Seminar and/or AP English Literature, you will be testing on your Chromebook...bring it fully charged, and be ready to enter to your College Board login information!

  • You can practice for your exams, here.

  • If you have changed your mind about testing, please not that there are NO exam refunds or cancellations, at this time. You will simply follow your regular class schedule, for the day, in order not to be counted absent.

You will receive an email with details on your testing location 1-2 days prior to each exam.

Please contact Lauren Phillips at PhillipsL@friscoisd.org with questions.

Summer Success with Apex

Frisco ISD is proud to offer current students in grades 6-12 access to summer learning options. This online program will offer students access to personalized instruction in English, Math, Science, and Social Studies, as well as STAAR, SAT, ACT, and TSIA2 tutorials. You and your student can use these tutorials to identify and address learning gaps, to ensure students are ready for grade-level instruction in the upcoming school year, and/or to prepare for upcoming STAAR or college readiness exams. And all offerings are at no cost to you! These asynchronous virtual learning opportunities will be open for students to self-enroll between May 13 - August 30, 2024.

Students will access their Apex Tutorials through the Frisco ISD Student Portal. Your student will have access to self-enroll in all courses (High School, Middle School, and College Readiness) and can then select which Tutorials they want to use. Refer to the How To Self-Enroll and Campus ecodes below.

Please encourage your student to work frequently in Tutorials to retain the content they learned. Students should also complete the Pretest at the start of a unit. Supporting topics may be assigned to your student if they need more practice on that topic. It will benefit students to complete supporting topics before completing modules.

Boys State is among the most respected and selective educational programs of Government instruction for high school students. Sponsored by the American Legion, Frisco’s Post 178 selects only 20-25 11th grade boys from across the city to attend the Boys State program in Austin. Selection for this program is highly competitive and the population of students attending represents the top talent from across the state. We are so proud of our three students who were chosen to be part of this elite program! Congratulations to Samuel Brunson, Christopher Horak, and Shawn Sebastian.
