Welcome Back to School Fellow Bobcats!

I hope this message finds you refreshed and ready for another exciting school year. As we prepare to welcome our students back into classrooms, learning spaces and athletic fields, I am filled with pride for the vibrant community we share and the opportunities ahead.

The start of a new year always brings a sense of possibility. It’s a time to build on past successes, embrace fresh ideas, and work together toward the shared goal of helping every student thrive. This year, we are continuing to focus on enhancing student engagement and have introduced Viewsonic Interactive Boards in every classroom grades K-8, strengthening school safety, expanding academic opportunities which include College in the High School courses, Student Internships, and enhanced College, Career, and Military engagements.

Our teachers, staff, and administrators have been hard at work preparing lessons, organizing activities, and ensuring our buildings are safe, welcoming, and ready for learning. We are committed to providing each child with a supportive environment that fosters both academic growth and personal development.

I also want to thank our families and community partners for the essential role you play in the success of our schools. Your support, encouragement, and involvement truly make a difference. When we work together—schools, families, and the broader community—we create the strongest foundation for our students’ success.

Let’s make this school year one of curiosity, kindness, achievement, and joy. I look forward to seeing you at events in our schools as we celebrate the learning and growth of our students.

Welcome back, and here’s to an extraordinary school year ahead!

Warm regards,

Dr. Jason Bottiglieri

Superintendent of Schools

Making the First Day Memorable — in All the Right Ways!

Starting kindergarten is a major milestone for both students and families. For many of our youngest Bobcats, this marks the very first time they’re stepping away from the comforting arms of a parent or guardian and into a new and unfamiliar world. It’s a big transition — and one we take seriously.

Last school year, our elementary buildings introduced a new approach to help ease this important first step. Instead of bringing all kindergarten students in on the same day, we implemented a staggered start model — and the impact was remarkable.

By welcoming only half of the kindergarten class on each of the first two days, we were able to give students a more personalized and calm introduction to school. This approach allows teachers to focus on smaller groups of just 9–10 children, rather than managing an entire classroom of 18–20 new learners all at once. With fewer students, our staff can provide individualized attention, ease first-day nerves, and build meaningful connections right from the start.

The result? A smoother, more joyful transition — not just for the students, but for families and staff as well. Teachers were more relaxed and able to focus on creating a warm and welcoming environment, which in turn helped our kindergartners feel safe, confident, and excited to begin their journey.

Due to the overwhelming success of last year’s rollout, we’re excited to continue with this staggered start again this fall. Here’s how it will work:

  • August 19 – Half of the kindergarten students will attend

  • August 20 – The other half will attend

  • August 21 – All kindergarten students attend together for the first time

We know that first impressions matter, especially in these early days of learning. With this thoughtful approach, we’re proud to set the stage for a successful, memorable start — and a strong foundation for years to come.

Keeping our Bobcats safe and secure is of the utmost of importance. If you are planning to visit one of our school buildings, please be aware that you will need to present your Photo ID each time you visit in order to enter the building. Thank you, in advance, for your understanding of this very important safety measure.
